Jack was born 2 months prematurely after his mother was partially struck by lightning, in Auckland, New Zealand in 2349. He grew up on his grandfather's farm just Southeast of Auckland. His father worked in Auckland as the head of Starfleet's South Pacific Operations division. After his brother joined Starfleet in 2364, Jack decided that he would join as well. His father wanted him to become an Operations officer like he was, while his mother wanted him to become a Doctor. After looking at the possibilities, Jack decided on Tactical and Security, and entered his application.
During his studies he met Rebecca Joran, a beautiful young Trill and after forming a relationship, and proposing to her, joined the Cadet training course with her. They were to spend a year on the USS McNally, however, the McNally was attacked by the Dominion half way through the year, and the crew were stranded on Omega IV for a month. His time on the planet gave him a understanding of how the Federation had it easy with all the Technology that they possessed.
His fiancee died in the attack and Jack has had a dislike for Dominion ever since.
During the attack, Jack received a large scar running from just under his chin to his right shoulder, and has refused to have the scar surgically hidden. To this day the top of the scar can be seen above his uniform.
After the incident with the Jem'Hadar, Jack was chosen to begin training to become a member of Starfleet Intelligence, though his official record shows differently. "Officially" Jack was stationed as a Security Officer on the USS Galaxy under Captain Price. While serving onboard, he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade but shortly afterwards transferred to the USS Jackson as Assistant Chief Tactical Officer.
Jack was amoung 4 other intell officers chosen for a deep cover assignment in the heart of the Psion/Combine region. Jack volunteered for the mission and spent almost a year with the Combine before being pulled out. However serious problems resulted when Admiral M'Benga tried to retrieve the information, and so assigned Jack to his team until he could free the information.
The undercover mission involved Jack being reconditioned to be another person and not the Starfleet officer that he was. When Admiral M'Benga couldn't find a way to get the data, and knowing what the Combine were likely to do, he suggested to Jack in one of their Hypnotic sessions that he should stay aboard the Knight with Captain Bridger. So he did.
After the battle of Dunnin's Star, Jack was given the responsibility of looking after the Tactical department until Sigmund Tjorkil was found and was able to return to his post. Throughout the lengthy Aebrynnis campagign, Jack continued to have strange and very often dark dreams.
As the Aebrynnis war came to an end, Captain Bridger promoted Jack to the position of Director of Strategic Operations after the near fatality of the former StratO Cathrine Matheson.
Shortly afterwards, in a meeting with Captain Bridger, his mind was finally ready to release the stored information, which Jack eagerly provided. This information, regarding the Combine/Psion influence on Starfleet and the UFP, combined with several other events, such as his work down on Aebrynnis was enough for Captain Bridger to give Jack a promotion to Lieutenant Commander.
Since that time, Jack still has the dreams, though not as frequently. He also, just before that meeting with the Captain, found his cat Fluffy after three months of it being somewhere on the ship, although it took off before Jack could even get close to it. No doubt it he will be able to find it soon.
Jack is a young, energetic man, who has an interest is cooking and wildlife. He loves his family, and makes friends easily. If you take the time to get to know him, you find he is caring, kind and considerate to others. Jack especially loves using the holodeck, and can mostly be found there, or tending to his plants when not on duty.
Jack is relatively tall, and extremely fit, due to the nature of his position in starfleet. He has a scar running from his chin to his right shoulder, which he still has. He has blue eyes and shortly cropped blonde hair.
His most treasured possessions are several rare plants that he has collected during his travels, and his cat, Fluffy.
