The Combine seems to be developing weapons to use against their enemies and allies alike. The Knight was subjected to the tests of such a weapon, which we eventually captured. We call it the Mindwave. It is insidious, operating past shields of all kinds, on a strange 7Hz carrier. It affects the minds of victims. A close range, narrow beam, will drive many people insane quickly, though the effects wear off fairly rapidly, after exposure in completed. A more broadly beamed wave will slowly degrade stability and sanity, and take more time to recover afterwards, from the effects. We are still investigating the nature of this device.
