The USS Knight listserv is not a forum for general announcements and invitations to join groups, other games, or organizations. However, we will often allow people to make such announcements, through the GM of the sim. This is done in order to assure that no messages that are in conflict with the goals of the sim or the general membership are posted to the web site. We actually also believe we should support the interests of our members outside the Knight, and having our GM release such announcements seems to be a good practice, enabling us to lend authority to the support of our members.
We also want to encourage members to remember not to join other organizations, and then neglect posting to the Knight. This happens all too often, with those members as often as not failing to inform us of their reduced interest and activity. And no, you don't need to tell the GM that you are joining other sims, but you should be respectful of one another to a degree that you are able to inform us all if you cannot meet your regular posting commitments. Joining other groups is not a reason to fail to post to the Knight.
