In most cultural histories of people with psi abilities, telekinesis is associated with great dangers, including warfare, murder and insanity. Few telekinetic species are regarded well by any others, and often for good reasons. On Earth, telekinesis has a particularly bad name. It is associated with mad mystics, firestarters, murderers, and only rarely with spiritual contemplation. There have been few strong telekinetics in Terran history, and most of those have fallen into 'evil' ways.
That makes the Psions particularly dangerous. Their powers, very strong, are based around long term use of kironide, a substance that can endow certain hemoglobin and cuproglobin blooded species with telekinesis. It also tends to result in decreased self assessment, hysteria, loss of empathy, poor judgement, and various mental problems, including paranoia and psychosis. The Psions are generally cruel, self centered, hating people, who are utter fanatics and who care little for life and freedom of others.
And some of them can kill at a glance. Many of them enjoy it.
Telepathic species are often feared, even in the UFP. But telekinetics are dreaded, and by almost everyone.
