Bonita was born into a very traditional Spanish family that can trace it's roots back to Old Castile, at the time the ancient Terran Visigothic nobles became established. Tracing her linage directly from Diego Rodríz, the first Count of Castile ( 884 AD), Bonita is extremely proud and knowledgeable of her family's place in Terran and federation history. In keeping with family tradition, Bonita shares her name with one of her illustrious ancestoresses, Bonita Beatriz Rodríz ,famed 15th century noblewoman and poetess.
Raised a devout Catholic, Bonita was baptized in the famed Mezquita Cathedral of Cordoba, educated in an exclusive convent school associated with the Fransicain Friars, Blessed María del Tránsito Cabanillas de Jesús Sacramentado in Cordoba, and, acceding to her family's wishes, attended 2 years of college at La Universidad de la Nuestra Madre de Dolores . However, she found she was rapidly discontent with the quiet, ultra-conservative program. At the age of 20, she shocked her family by announcing her intention to enlist, not only in Starfleet, but in the Marines. She overcame the family reluctance to give their blessing to her endeavor by pointing out that she was merely following in the rather large footsteps of several notable family historical figures. *
Starfleet Training:

Completed Starfleet Marine Med-Tech Training, Quantico, Virginia, Earth.
Completed Advance Desert Warfare/Survival training, Starfleet Marine Station, Vulcan.
Completed Advance Winter Warfare/Survival training, Starfleet Marine station, Hoth.
Personal Motto:: Adaptese, improvise, conquiste
At first glance, Bonita is deceptively meek and soft spoken unless angered. Her temper, however, is volatile. And while she generally manages to control it, there are times when it does flare suddenly. Most generally, the flaring temper is in response to an actual or perceived injustice to someone under her protection. Bonita is a caring, hard-working individual who takes her duties both as a marine and a med-tech very seriously. She is well versed in the art of combat and has been sited as practically fearless in battle. Rather than ignore the reality and inevitability of death as many of us choose to do, Bonita's supervisors report that she often appears to pursue death. "She … chases after it, mocks it, courts it, hugs it, sleeps with it; it is her favorite plaything and her most lasting love." This mystical affinity with death is based on a belief that death is simply a passageway to our destiny of eternal life of the spirit, a life unencumbered by poverty, disease, and suffering. Bonita wears always her cherished family heirloom rosary necklace, and will be most likely seen just before battle telling the beads with a serene expression.

* Other notable historical family early explorers of the "New World" include Francisco Roderiz Galán, who journeyed to Argentina with Pedro de Mendoza in 1536, Garci Rodríz de Vergara, who accompanied Alvar Núńez to Paraguay in 1542, and Juan Rodríz Serrano who voyaged with Magellan as far as the Philippines, and commanded the fleet after Magellan's death in 1521. More recently, the family can count several starship and merchant captains among their ancestors. Included in this number is the famed Estuban d'la Vega Rodriz, who captained the USS Viento del Oeste (USS West Wind), one of the heroic ships of the gallant Starfleet Armada of 2373 that played a vital role in defending earth during el incidente de los muertes (the Borg invasion) .
