Mission and Covenant of the Religious Education Community at the Unitarian Universalist Church
of the North Hills
As parents, teachers, and members of the UUCNH congregation, we are mindful that children/youth are naturally curious, are developing a sense of self-esteem, and are acquiring interpersonal skills.  We also recognize that children develop spiritually when having fun, by expressing their creativity through the Arts, and through celebrating significant events in their Church and Family lives. Therefore, we, the Religious Education Community, covenant to foster the following:
  • A compassionate, caring and safe classroom that offers each child/youth a sense of belonging and acceptance,

  • Responsible participation of our children/youth as part of the larger Church community,

  • A sense of social justice in our children/youth through participation in the external community,

  • An awareness, understanding and articulation of the Unitarian Universalist principles, heritage and identity by our children/youth,

  • An understanding and respect by our children/youth of diversity in individual viewpoints, lifestyles, cultural histories and religious beliefs,

  • An understanding of the interdependent web of nature and a commitment by our children/youth to care for the Earth, and

  •  A spiritual and mindful way of living.
