Dunedin
OK, so I got into Dunedin on 10 February and stayed in a hostel since I couldn't move into Toroa (where I stayed during school) until the next day, Monday.  The hostel was real fun.  It's called Penguin Palace, so, yes, I did pick it for the name.  But it was good.  I met some nice people there, including an American woman named Devon who I became friends with.  So far my stay in Dunedin has been pretty good.  I didn't like it here at first, but now I like it.  Check out my Toroa photos for more of my school-home life.
Rainbows over Dunedin.  This is basically the view from my living room/kitchen.
Kiwi's have taken to all types of architecture, so you get grand cathedrals like this one.
Bronze penguins hang out in the central business district.
Allen's Beach, one of the beautiful beaches on the Otago Peninsula. I had to go here for a class, oh darn...
So, onto school.  This is the crest of the University of Otago, the first New Zealand university.   I'm studying towards my master's in Marine Science, so I'm always at the Marine Science building. See my thesis page to check out what I'm doing.
My friend Kerry collecting sand for her project.  I helped :)
Took a little trip to Nelson for the New Zealand Marine Science Society Conference.  This was the group from Otago that drove up together (about 12 hours from Dunedin to Nelson).  In the back, l-->r:  Craig, Lisa, Erik, Praneeta, Kerry, Kate, and Daniel.  In the front, Susan, Eric, and Brian.  I'm missing because I'm taking the photo.  After the photo, Brian flew his kite (left).
