| Chapter 7 “Oh my God!” Alexis whispered, burying her face in her hands. “I’m so sorry. Frances didn’t tell me that you had company.” Alexis tried to explain, but neither Carly nor Sonny were listening. They were locked in an intense stare down. Carly’s eyes were pleading, while Sonny’s were begging for understanding. “It’s always been her? Hasn’t it?” Carly asked in a scream, as tears streamed down. “Carly please...I...” Sonny started, but stopped noticing the way Carly was staring at Alexis. Alexis was trembling from the intensity in Carly eyes. “Alexis, I need to talk to Carly alone,” Sonny said, walking over to her. “I’m so sorry,” Alexis said sorrowfully. “It’s going to be okay,” Sonny promised, touching her cheek. She nodded and walked out of the penthouse with tears in her eyes. Carly had watched Sonny and Alexis’ tender exchange with pain and jealously raging in her heart. She wondered, why hadn’t she noticed the way Sonny and Alexis looked at each other before? ‘Am I really that self absorbed?’ She questioned herself, as tears blurred her vision. When she wiped them away, Sonny’s worried face was staring at her. There were a lot of questions she need and wanted answered, but she asked the most important one first. “Do you love her?” Carly whispered softly. Sonny closed his eyes and sighed. “Carly, Alexis and I are very complicated.” Sonny said, running his hand through his ruffled hair, trying to find the right words to explain his feelings. He realized that there was no right way to break someone’s heart. “Do I love Alexis?” Carly nodded, as Sonny looked at her for the longest time before speaking. She knew his answer would change her life forever. “Yes I love her,” Sonny admitted painfully. Sonny truly cared for her, but his heart belonged to Alexis. There was a part of himself missing and he spent years trying to find it. He finally found his home. He was sure it was Alexis. Sonny felt a tear slide down his cheek. As tears filled Carly’s eyes, he moved towards her. “NO! Don’t touch me!” Carly yelled, wiping her tears away. She would not cry, her pride screamed, but her heart said otherwise. Fresh tears slipped from her eyes before she could stop them. She had a life full of heartbreak, but none of them felt like this. She couldn’t breath, couldn’t think. At the moment the pain of rejection was all consuming. “Carly...”Sonny tried again. “Stay away form me!” Carly yelled and start pacing around the penthouse. “You never really care about me? You just used me for sex!” Carly realized adding more weight to her already heavy heart. “Carly that’s not true. I cared for you. It wasn’t just about sex!” Sonny defended himself. “Please...Sonny!” Carly spat out. Her pride had suffered enough and she wanted the truth. Sonny closed his eyes. “I do care about you!” “Just not enough,” Carly said, sitting on the couch in defeat. “Were you sleeping with her while Michael and I were living here? It all makes sense now. Why she defends you. Why you moved her in across the hall. God how could I have been so stupid!” Carly said, as if a light just had been turned on and she was seeing clearly for first time. Sonny looked at her, but said nothing because there was so much truth in what she had said. He couldn’t argue with her. “Carly I wasn’t sleeping with Alexis when we were together,” Sonny finally whispered. “And I’m supposed to believe that. Wait Alexis said something about a...a.. son. My God, you got her pregnant?” Carly said as more fog lifted and more things were becoming clearer. Sonny sighed as he sat down in a nearby chair, knowing that things were going to get worse before they got better. * * * * * Lucky looked up at ceiling as Emily looked at his worried face. He hadn’t said anything in the longest time. ““Lucky?” She finally whispered. “Hmm.” “Are you okay?” Emily asked. He looked at her worried brown eyes and offered her a warm smile. “No, I’m not Em. The woman I love is having another man’s baby.” “I’m sorry Lucky; Elizabeth loves you.” Emily said, because as upset as she was at Elizabeth, she knew that much was true. “I know she loves me Em. She just doesn’t trust me when it really counts!” Lucky said in hurt voice. That caused Emily’s eyes to tear up. “Lucky, what are you going to do? Are going to throw away everything you and Elizabeth have because of one mistake?” Emily asked. Lucky turned to her in shock. “Em this isn’t just a little mistake. She cheated on me with your brother of all people! And when she found out she was pregnant did she do the right thing and tell me the truth? No she didn’t!” Lucky yelled, his anger rushing back suddenly. “Okay she made a huge mistake.” Emily paused when she saw the look that Lucky was giving her. “Okay the biggest mistake a person can make in a relationship. But you still love her Lucky.” “You’re right. I still love her in spite of everything, but that doesn’t mean I can forgive her.” Lucky said with a yawn. He looked over at Emily. Her eyes were closed and she was breathing so softly. He knew she had fallen asleep. He brushed a piece of her hair off her face, noticing how beautiful she looked asleep. * * * * * “You love me?” Elizabeth said again. Jason looked her at shocked. “I thought you knew.” “How could I since you never said it to me,” Elizabeth replied. “I didn’t say it, because I didn’t think you wanted to hear it,” Jason said simply. “What made you think that?” Elizabeth asked, but she was pretty sure she knew the answer. “Because you were in love with Lucky,” Jason explained. “Yes, I love Lucky, but Jason I have feelings for you. I wouldn’t have slept with you if I didn’t,” Elizabeth said clearly hurt. “Oh Liz, I know you care for me. I just didn’t think it was love.” Jason said, touching her face gently. Elizabeth swallowed hard. Were her feelings for Jason, Love?” Looking into his eyes, feeling his gently touch, her heart told it was. But her head still wasn’t ready to share it. “Jason..why did you come back?” She asked suddenly needing to know. “I came back because of you. Elizabeth, you’re all I think about: your face, your touch, and your smile. Every time I closed my eyes your face is there haunting and tempting me.” Jason stopped when he saw the tears in her eyes. “Did I say something wrong?” She shook her head. “No, I just never thought I would be your fantasy, not when you were with Carly,” Elizabeth said. Jason smiled at the jealously creeping into her voice. “Elizabeth, Carly is my best friend. I do love her, but I’m not in love with her. I love you.” “Really? You really love me!” Elizabeth questioned. “Yes Elizabeth Webber I love you with all my heart. What do I have to do to prove it to you? I’ll do anything.” Jason said his blue eyes dancing with love. “Kiss me,” Elizabeth whispered, as she cupped his handsome face in her shaking hands. He smiled as his lips covered her, moaning when she parted them allowing his tongue inside of her hungry mouth. They kissed each other passionately and hungrily. When they pulled away both were out of breath and fire and lust were burning in their eyes. “Show me that you love Jason,” Elizabeth whispered. “Hmm...." Jason said, as he worked on removing her blouse. |
