To Know She Loves You by Dani Beth The sequel to Three Martinis Too Late. For the sake of this story, Emily and Zander didn't try to run away, weren't in the accident and Emily's still in Port Charles. So, enjoy! *~* Johnny bit back a laugh as he watched the teen pound on the door once more. Zander grumbled something under his breath and knocked on Alexis' door with all the frustration that he had in him. She hadn't been returning his calls and at first he thought it was because he had moved out without a formal good-bye to her, but it had been a few weeks, and now he was just getting worried. Hearing Sonny's door open behind him, he looked back, but saw nothing, so went back to staring at the door in front of him. Poking his head in, Johnny cleared his throat with a grin and whispered, ''Miss Davis, I think you should come out here.'' With a look at Sonny, who just shrugged, she followed the bodyguard out the door. Leaning against the doorframe, she had to laugh. The sight of Zander stomping his foot and glaring at her door was too much. ''There something I can help you with, Zander?'' At first, he saw legs, but then he quickly snapped his eyes up. ''Alexis, why are you...'' he stopped, though, when he saw Sonny come up behind her, wrapping an arm around her middle. ''Oh.'' Laughing again, she motioned with her finger for him to follow them inside and sat down on the couch. Curling her feet under her, she stared intently at him and asked, ''What's up?'' ''It's just...I was gettin' worried about you. You weren't answering my calls and stuff, so I thought I should...'' he trailed off, finding that what he was thinking sounded stupid. Alexis looked at him and became worried when his face turned red. ''Zander? Honey, what's wrong?'' ''Nothing,'' he lied. Coming to kneel in front of him, Alexis looked back at Sonny, who sighed. Taking his chin in her hand, she whispered, ''Hey, you can tell me. We lived together for a while, remember? You lived through my singing and I lived through your dirty clothes.'' This made him laugh and without a second thought, he threw his arms around her in a hug. ''I've missed you, that's all. I thought you were angry at me for just leaving like I did.'' ''Angry with you?'' she echoed, smiling in his shoulder. ''How could I be angry with you? I knew that you needed to get out, so that's why I didn't press the issue.'' When they finally disconnected themselves from each other and Alexis went to her place next to Sonny, who wrapped his arms around her involuntarily, did Zander ask, ''How did you two finally get together?'' ''Excuse me?'' Alexis asked, casting a glance at Sonny, who was laughing. ''Oh come on, even I knew that you two were into each other,'' Zander scoffed. ''It took you guys a long time, didn't it?'' ''You could say that,'' Sonny agreed. ''Didn't take her long to get it through her head though.'' Alexis just snorted and gave a huff, not looking at either of them. ''At least she's eating properly now,'' the teen pointed out, sitting back in the chair. ''I was eating properly before,'' she cried. ''Sure, if you call cereal bars and coffee for breakfast, an apple for lunch and microwave popcorn on good nights 'eating properly','' Zander snickered, causing Sonny to laugh. Kissing her hair, Sonny murmured, ''The Kid knows you well.'' She stayed silent, causing him to sigh. To Zander, ''She does this silent treatment thing sometimes. There are times when it's cute, but she can go on for hours, and then it gets annoying.'' ''She ticklish on her sides,'' Zander told him lazily. ''I know this 'cause she was talking about it once on the phone with someone about how Mr. Ashton never found that out.'' ''Uh,'' was the only sound Alexis made and then she began to squeal loudly and kick her legs out as Sonny began to tickle her. ''Wow,'' Sonny remarked, watching her with a glint in his eyes. ''That I'm going to have to remember.'' Sticking her tongue out, she got up and told them, ''I'm going to go get dressed.'' ''Please do,'' Sonny told her dryly. ''How 'bout that little blue number?'' Her look made Zander smirk and then turn back to the man on the couch. ''So, do you love her?'' Hearing the protectiveness in the teen's voice, he raised an eyebrow. ''Yes.'' ''Good.'' Leaning forward, Sonny steepled his fingers as he rested his elbows on his knees. ''You love her too, don't you? Not the way that I do, I know that, but she's special to you.'' Feeling awkward, Zander gave a one-shoulder shrug. ''Sure. She took me in and treated me like someone other than a screwed up kid.'' He then sighed. ''Sonny, I barely knew my mother. She left me and my dad 'cause I was a mistake. So, during the years, I grew up with my father and on the streets.'' He paused, only to look down at the floor. ''When Alexis took me on as a client and then a houseguest, she became a mother figure to me. Even when she wasn't eating right, she made sure I was. Take-out was a big thing when I lived there, but I was still eating better than I ever did before.'' Looking over at the stairs, Sonny gave a little sigh before turning back to Zander. ''She still cares about you. Talks about how she wants to go over to your apartment and see if you're livin' right and if you have food in the fridge.'' He smiled proudly. ''She loves you, Kid. Always has. And I gotta tell ya somethin', now that she does love you, she'll never let you go.'' ''Oh great,'' he remarked sarcastically and then smirked as he heard a sound at the top of the stairs. ''I fed you, I gave you a roof over your head and that's the thanks I get?'' Alexis asked, voice raising a few notches. ''Well, I take it all back. And to think, I was going to go grocery shopping with you.'' Shaking his head sadly, Sonny stared up at her and sighed. ''You're not wearing the blue number.'' ''That's because we have virgin eyes here,'' she told him, coming to stand behind him. ''O-kay,'' Zander cried, standing up. ''That's my cue to leave.'' And with emphasis, he pointed to the door. Following him to the door, Sonny shook Zander's hand and smiled. ''It's good seeing you again.'' Hugging him, Alexis took a step back and then smoothed his hair a little, before fussing over him. ''I should take you shopping. Wearing jeans all the time like you do isn't healthy. I know Emily likes the bad boy streak that you have, but you need dress clothes too.'' ''Alexis,'' Sonny groaned, running a hand over his face. ''Shush,'' she told him and patted his chest. Back to Zander, she nodded. ''Yes. It has been good seeing you again. And don't be shy; come back again. We love guests.'' ''But not too late,'' Sonny cut in quickly. ''Seriously, that's my cue to leave as fast as I can,'' Zander told them, eyes wide. Giving a soft sigh, Alexis leaned over and kissed his cheek. Watching Zander, Sonny to smile at the goofy look on his face. ''It's true, though, come whenever you want to.'' ''And bring Emily,'' Alexis called after him, with a little wave. Bringing her back into the penthouse, Sonny dipped his head to give her a kiss. ''Now, what do you say you slip into that little blue number?'' ''Why Mr. Corinthos,'' she gushed, and ran up the stairs. Turning, she let some hair fall in front of her eyes. ''Only if you help me.'' The End |
