Chapter 10 “Why?” Alexis repeated when Jax didn’t offer her an explanation. He stood looking at her, his mouth slightly open in shock. How could she not know what she did to him? Why was she so in awe of his feelings for her? Did she really feel unworthy of his love? Jax opened his mouth to say something but shut it again, needing to find the perfect words to explain to her his feelings. He cupped her face in his hands and stared into her eyes. He could get lost in them. He needed to make her understand. “Alexis, don’t you know how special you are? What you do to me? God, from the moment I laid eyes on you in my office, I wanted you and spending time with you these last few days has only intensified the feeling. I want to know everything about you. Your likes, dislikes, fears, dreams, I want to share everything with you. You are an amazing woman.” He looked at the astonished expression on Alexis’s face and couldn’t help a smile. She seemed like she was about to protest but he didn’t want her to spoil this beautiful moment with her denial and he brought his lips to hers and covered her mouth in a kiss, reinforcing the words he had just spoken. * * * * * Sonny had his men searching for Moreno and Michael but so far the search hadn’t turned up any leads. Sonny paced up and down the hallway. He was hoping he would have some good news for Carly when she woke up but it wasn’t looking too promising. He was still haunted by her eyes and words. He knew that without Michael, their future together would be jeopardized. He reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone and dialed the one person he knew could help her. * * * * * Emily was lying on her bed when he came in, yelling at her. "Get packed. We’re leaving now!" She looked at him, questions burning in her eyes but they dared not leave her mouth. She could still feel the stink of his hand on her face from the slap he had given her earlier when she defied him over the child. She only nodded as he walked out of the room. Once he had gone, she cried even harder than before. The last thing she wanted to do was move again. She had made friends here. She finally felt like a normal girl, something she hadn’t felt since her mother died and left her alone with *him*. “God, I miss you so much Mom,” she whispered as she started packing. She didn’t want to make him any angrier than he already was. Hank started putting things into boxes as quickly as he could. He knew that once Moreno found out he had been double crossed, Hank would be as good as dead. But the lady made him an offer he couldn't refuse. He didn't know what was so special about the brat and he didn't really care. The kid had made him a very rich man. Hank was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear the door opening and closing. The old floor squeaked as the intruder made his way to his prey. Hank turned as the knife made contract with his flesh. He fell to the floor, crying out in pain. Emily heard her father’s cries. She left her room cautiously and saw the man who attacked her father was wearing dark clothes and a ski mask. She was terrified that he would discover her so she slowly backed into her room. She didn't know what to do other than hide and pray that she wasn’t discovered. * * * * * Alexis was so lost in the kiss that she hadn't noticed Jax's hands working on removing her blouse until it was falling to the floor. He slowly walked her backward until she was against the bed, giving her a slight push and she surrendered to his wishes and laid down. She felt her lust raising, looking at her husband standing before her, his raw need for her evident in his cobalt eyes. Just as Jax was about to unhook her bra, Alexis’s cell phone starting ringing. "Don't worry about it, you can call whomever it is later," Jax said, sensing her thoughts and not wanting to be interrupted. Alexis quickly pushed him off her. "Sorry. It could be important," she explained, thankful or the interruption. The last thing she needed was to fall back into bed with him. Jax wanted a real marriage and he had bared himself to her but she still wasn't sure if she could give him what he needed outside of the bedroom, although she did have that area covered. She wasn't naive. She knew there was a lot more to marriage than sex and she wasn’t sure if she was wife material. "Hello?" she answered, casting a glance at Jax, who was lying shirtless on the bed. She felt her desire rising again. She tore her eyes away from him and tried to stay focused on her caller. "What!" Alexis yelled into the phone. Jax sat up hearing the distress in her voice. "When?" Alexis asked. "Alexis, what's wrong?" Jax asked rushing to her side. Alexis hung up her phone and looked up at Jax. "That was Sonny. Someone kidnaped Michael," Alexis whispered, forgetting that Jax didn't have a clue to whom she was referring to. He had never met either Sonny or Michael or anyone else close to her for that matter. "Who?" Alexis smiled sheepishly, being reminded of just how little they knew about each other. "He’s my best friend’s son!" "Oh how awful," Jax said, pulling her into a much needed hug. "Would you mind if we went home today." "No of course not," Jax said, before going to make the arrangements. |
