Chapter 15

Jax and Alexis pulled into his parents' driveway.  Alexis suddenly felt sick.  She was excited about meeting her new family but at the same time afraid that they would take one look at her and hate her.  Alexis looked at the house once more, trying to forget a childhood memory that had suddenly flashed in her mind.  Jax took her hand.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes I'm fine, just a little nervous," Alexis replied.

"You have nothing to be nervous about.  They are going to love you."

"What if they don't Jax?" Alexis asked, finally voicing her fears.

"My parents love me and they will love you too.  Trust me," Jax said. As he climbed out of the car and came around to open her door.

Alexis still wasn't sure about this.  Her stomach was still turning.  She didn't think she was going to be able to eat anything without being sick and the last thing she wanted was for Jax's mother to think that she hated her food.

"Ready?" Jax asked, taking her hand again.

"No!"

Jax laughed at her.  She was so cute when she was all nervous.

"Alexis, just remember that I love you, whenever you get scared.  Okay?" Jax kissed her to affirm his statement just before the front door opened.

"Daddy!" Maddie squealed, as she started jumping up and down.

"Hey sweetie..."  Jax started to pick her up but she ran straight to Alexis.

"Are you my new mommy?" Maddie asked, while pulling on Alexis’s leg.  She wanted Alexis to pick her up and hug and kiss her the way her daddy did.

Alexis wasn't sure what to do.  Jax saw that she was panicking and stepped in.

"Yes sweetie, this is Alexis," Jax said while picking up Maddie.

"Daddy, what's wrong?  Why doesn't she like me?" Maddie asked, with tears forming in her blue eyes.

"Sweetie, you didn't do anything wrong!" Alexis quickly spoke up.

"I didn't?"

"No sweetie you didn't," Alexis assured her, as she took Maddie from Jax.  "Can I tell you a little secret?" Alexis whispered, as Jax decided to give them a moment alone.

"I'm going to say hello to Mum and Dad," Jax explained to Alexis.

Alexis and Maddie sat down on the stairs.  “Maddie, you didn't do anything wrong.  I'm sorry."

"I didn't make you look so sad?" Maddie asked.

Alexis shook her head.  "No, I'm not sad."

"You’re not?"

"No, I was afraid...." Alexis was going to say more but Maddie had questions that needed answering.

"Afraid of me?"

"No, well yes..I mean.." Alexis sighed.

Maddie wasn't sure what to make of her new mom.

The sunlight shining through the hospital window, woke Emily.  She slowly opened her eyes to find a stranger watching her.

"Who are you?  Where’s Lucky?" Emily questioned pulling the cover up tighter around her.

"I'm Mac Scorpio, the Police commissioner and I have a few question to ask you about your father’s murder and the kidnaping of Michael Morgan."

Emily wasn't going to answer any question until she had hers answered.

"Where is Lucky Spencer?"

"He’s in jail," Mac replied.

"What!  Why?" Emily asked in shock.

"Lucky has been arrested for the murder of your father!"

"NO!  He didn't kill my father!!" Emily said jumping out of bed and reaching for her clothes.

"You’re going to have to tell me what happened," Mac said, stopping her from getting dressed.

"Lucky didn't kill my father!"

"Can you explain the hundred thousand dollars Lucky had in his apartment?  And why his fingerprints were on the knife that murdered your father?"

Emily was truly shocked by the news that Lucky’s fingerprints where on the knife that stabbed her father.

"The money was my fathers.  I took it with me when I went to Lucky's apartment," Emily whispered, sitting down on bed, suddenly feeling weak.  Lucky was in trouble and it was all her fault.

"Emily, where is Michael Morgan?  We know the child was with you."

"My father gave him to a woman in a limo and she gave him the briefcase with the money in it."

"Did you see the woman’s face?" Mac asked, hoping they finally had a lead in the child’s whereabouts.  Or at least the person behind his kidnaping.

"No, it was too dark and I was too far away to see her face.  But I did hear her voice," Emily said softly.  Her thoughts were focused on Lucky and how much he must hate her for causing all this trouble for him.

"Do you think you would recognized it again if you heard it?"

"Yes."

Carly had spent the day at the penthouse.  She was waiting for Bobbie to arrive.  She hadn’t been able to stop thinking about Sonny and what he had said the night before.  What if this was about her instead of him?  So she had called Bobbie hoping she could help.

"Hi sweetheart," Bobbie said, as Johnny closed the door.

"Hi mamma!"  Carly hugged her mother.

"Any news on Michael?" Bobbie asked hopefully.

"No," Carly replied sadly.  Every time someone would ask about Michael it would break her heart.  Carly was so afraid that something awful would happen to him.

"Aww baby, I'm sorry.  What can I do to help?" Bobbie asked while stroking Carly’s hair, which served as a reminder to Bobbie of Carly's father.

"I need to ask you something.  Sonny said something last night that I haven't been able to shake."

"What?"

"Sonny thinks that Michael was taken not because of who he is but because of who *I* am."

Bobbie closed her eyes.  Her fears had just been answered.  Ever since Michael's kidnaping, she had been telling herself that no one knew the truth about her and Stefan.  But now she wasn't so sure.  What if Michael was paying for her sins?

Carly saw the look on her mother’s face and instantly knew she was hiding something from her. “Does this have to with me?"

"I honestly don't know baby.  But there is something you should know.  It’s about your father."

"My father?  I thought you didn't know who he was?"

"I have always known who your father was Carly, I just couldn’t tell you, or anyone for that matter," Bobbie said shamefully.  She knew her daughter and knew her temper and she was sure that Carly would never be able to forgive her for this.

"Why did you lie to me!" Carly asked angrily.

"I didn't tell you because your father and I made a deal to protect you.  And the only way to do that, was to give you away."

Carly sat in total in shock over what her mother had just said.  She had known all long who her father was?  And giving her away was some big plan to protect her?  Protect? ‘Oh god Michael, this was about me,’ Carly thought.

"Who’s my father, Bobbie?!" Carly demanded, her eyes burning with anger and pain.

"Stefan Cassadine," Bobbie whispered and waited for Carly's wrath.

Alexis looked into Maddie's clear, blue eyes, which reminded her of Jax and she found the words she needed to say.  "I'm so happy to be your mom.  And when I was about your age, I used to pray every night for a mother."

"You did?" Maddie asked, becoming at ease with Alexis now.

"Yes I did."

"What happened to your mother?  Did she go to heaven, like mine?"

"Yes," Alexis whispered as a tear fell from her eye.

"I'm sorry about your mom but I'm so glad that you’re going to be mine!"

"You are?" Alexis asked, surprised.  She was sure Maddie wouldn't want her for a mother after the way she acted at first.

"Yes I am.  You’re pretty and you made daddy laugh again," Maddie whispered in Alexis’s ear as Jax and his parents walked into the hallway.

Stefan was pacing around a small room that Helena had locked him in.  He had awakened with a headache and found that he wasn't alone.

There was a beautiful young woman there, who didn't remember her name.  But Stefan knew who she was.

"How did you become a prisoner of my mother?”

"I don't know.  I can't remember anything."

Stefan was sure that this would change things for his sister and her new husband, once Jax learned that his wife was alive.

"We going to get out of here Brenda.  I promise you that I'm going to return you to your family."
