Chapter 19 Alexis rolled over smiling at the sight of her husband sleeping by her side. She couldn't not touch his lovely face. She placed a soft kiss on his cheek ,before slipping out of bed. She still had a lot of work to do on Lucky's case. She closed the bedroom door, not wanting to wake Jax. She walked into the living room and noticed the orchids that Maddie had picked for her. She smelled one. For the first time in her life, she felt loved and accepted in spite of who she was. Jax loved her, even with all of insecurities about marriage and family. And even his family were open and caring and welcomed her into the Jacks family. She dropped the orchid back on the coffee table and walked to her desk. She had this unexplainable calmness inside her. She flicked on the lamp and stated flipping through her old law books. She still had to prepare for Lucky's bail hearing that would be taking place in a few hours. She was worrying about Luke and what actions he would take if his son wasn't allowed to make bail. And there was a very good chance that he wouldn't. Things looked bad for Lucky Spencer. She wasn't sure that her legal skills would be enough to clear him. There was so much evidence stacked against him. Her worried thoughts ended with a surprising knock at the door. She looked at the clock on the wall. It was after 2am! She frowned, as she approached the door. "Who is it?" she called. "Lex, it's me, Carly." "Carly, what's wrong?" Alexis asked, opening the door, concerned about her friend. "I need you to tell me something." Carly stated. The confusion in Alexis's eyes was clear. "Okay." "Did you know, I was your niece? Is that why you befriended me?" Carly accused. Alexis' mouth opened and closed several time before her mind could find the right words. "What are you talking about?" "That's right, I'm a Cassadine. At least that's what Bobbie says," Carly said softly. She knew by the look on Alexis' face that she hadn't known the truth either. "My God. Do you think she's telling the truth?" Alexis asked stupidly. Carly raised her brow. "God I wish. Nothing personal, Lex, but the thought of being Cassadine..." "Freaks you out," Alexis finished for her. "Yep. That's one way of putting it," Carly said, with a defeated sigh. "Who? Stavros or Stefan?" Alexis asked. "Stefan," Carly said, as tears formed in her eyes. Every time she thought about her parents and their lies, it made her cry. "God. Stefan and Bobbie?" Alexis repeated. "Yep. It seems they fell in love with each other, before they realized their families were at war with each other," Carly explained with a unbelieving laugh. Alexis sat down, shaking her head. She couldn't believe that Stefan and Bobbie were lovers. "I'm sorry Carly. I really had no idea." Carly closed her eyes, knowing Alexis was telling the truth. "I'm sorry I accused you." Carly said, in a regretful voice. "I don't blame you for being upset or for thinking that I knew. Stefan and I were close but I always knew that he had his secrets, things he couldn't even share with me." "I'm sorry Lex. It's just that I don't know who or what to believe anymore," Carly admitted, wiping away a fallen tear. "How could Bobbie keep something like this form me?" Carly asked. Alexis didn't comment. She knew that if Carly really was a Cassadine, then Bobbie and Stefan had kept her identity a secret, for the same reasons Alexis' parents had. For her safety. "Don't you dare say it!" Carly warned, recongnizing the look in Alexis' eyes. "Carly, Mikkos and Helena wouldn't have liked the fact that their son had gotten a Spencer pregnant. Your life would have been in constant danger," Alexis said, understanding Bobbie and Stefan's reasons for keeping the truth from Carly. Not that she agreed with them but understood why they did what they did. "I can't believe, you're taking their side!" Carly spat out angrily, heading for the door. "I thought you cared about me!!" "Carly, wait!" Alexis begged, stopping her at the door. "I do care about you. And I understand how you're feeling right now, probably better than anyone." Alexis said, offering an understanding smile. * * * * * Sonny turned over in bed, finding himself alone. "Carly?" he called and listened. He was greeted by silence. "Shit!" he cursed, climbing out of bed, reaching for his clothes. "Johnny. Where the hell is Carly and why aren't you with her?" Sonny yelled, at his surprised bodyguard. "Boss...I thought..." Johnny tried to explain. "Since when did I pay you to think?" Sonny yelled, slamming the door behind him. "If anything happens to her.." Sonny warned, as he and an ashamed Johnny stepped on the elevator. * * * * * Emily was tossing and turning in Lucky's bed. Her and Lucky were running through a field full of flowers. They were holding hands, laughing, and stealing little kisses from each other. Suddenly, they were in a room. Lucky was strapped in a chair, a glass wall separating them. Her father was there, laughing at her. As was about to pull a switch, Emily realized that Lucky was in an electric chair. "Lucky!! Lucky!!" she screamed, pounding on the glass, as her father pulled the switch. "No!!" Emily sat up in bed gasping for air. She looked around the room wildly, finally coming to her senses and realized that she was in Lucky's room and his bed. She hugged a pillow to her, as she laid back in bed. "Lucky!!" She sobbed. * * * * * "You awake?" Stefan asked. "Yea," Brenda replied, sitting up and looking at him. "We're getting out of here at day break. I have a plan. Do you trust me?" Stefan asked, seeing the fear in her eyes. "Yes," she whispered. "I'm just afraid, that's all. "I won't let anything happen to you. I promise." "I know," she whispered, as he wiped away her falling tears. * * * * * Helena was rocking Michael to sleep, when Ari appeared at the doorway. "Good night, my sweet prince," she said, laying the child in his crib. Ari waited until she was out of the child's room before giving her his report. "Madam, Mrs. Jones paid Mrs. Morgan a visit earlier this evening." "Good." Helena smiled, knowing it was just a matter of time before Mr. Corinthos found her location. That was something she was counting on. "You know what to do?" she questioned. "Yes Madam. And Stefan and Mrs. Jacks are planning their escape." Ari added. She laughed. "Let them think they have succeeded." Helena said, heading to her bedroom. "Ari...all this stress is making me tense. I need a nice hot bath and one of your wonderful massages." "Yes, Madam." |
