Chapter 4 Carly looked around the penthouse, taking in her new home, at least for now. She was scared of Moreno and what he was going to do to her, but there was a part of her that was more afraid of Sonny and these new feelings he had awakened in her. Feelings that were supposed to belong to Jason. She was so lost in her own thoughts, she hadn't heard him come into the room. He stood watching her from the doorway. "Are you all right?" he asked, moving closer to her. Carly jumped at the sound of his voice. "I'm fine. You just surprised me, that’s all," she explained. Sonny only nodded. Carly started to pick up Michael's toys, that had already become strewn about the room. "I'm sorry about the mess!" Her hands started to shake, as memories of him kissing her started to flood her mind. No matter how hard she had tried to forget that kiss, she couldn’t. "You have nothing to be sorry for!" Sonny insisted. They both reached for the same toy at the same time and their hands touched, sending a jolt of electricity through them both. Their eyes met. Sonny moved a piece of her hair off her face, while looking into her eyes. "This is your home." The words brought tears to Carly’s eyes. She wasn’t sure why. Maybe it was because she did feel at home here and hearing him say it made it real for her. As much as she wanted to hate him for Jason's death, she just couldn't. But she felt like she was betraying Jason's memory by having these feelings for Sonny. She felt his lips on hers then but pulled away. "I can't do this. Please don't!" "I know you have feelings for me. I can see it in your eyes and I'm not giving up on you," Sonny whispered in her ear before standing up and leaving her alone. Carly picked up a picture of Jason and held it to her heart. She sank back down to the floor for a nice long cry. * * * * * Las Vegas Jax watched as Alexis fixed herself another drink. She was nervous about the wedding. So was he for that matter. The memory of what happened on the plane had been flashing in his head every time she walked into the room. This was not part of his plan. He never expected to feel what he felt when their lips touched. 'Damn! I should just back off and leave her and her company alone', he thought as he watched her. Alexis wasn't doing any better than Jax. The memories of their lips touching had robbed her of a good night sleep. Every time she closed her eyes she could feel his lips on hers. 'Damn', she thought, she should just call the whole thing off. This was becoming too dangerous. The man did things to her she couldn't explain. But as much as that terrified her, she didn't want to run from it. In fact, she wanted to do just the opposite. The more she was around him, the more she wanted to know about him. She was in so much trouble! Jasper Jacks could take her heart at any moment and she would be helpless to stop him. She finished her drink and reached for the bottle to pour herself another one but Jax stopped her by taking the bottle from her hand. "I think you've had enough to drink," he said, setting the bottle back on the bar but out of her reach. "Look Mister, we aren't married yet. You can't boss me around!" Alexis fumed, starting to feel the effects of the alcohol. "And once we are married, you're still not going to boss me around! Got it!" He just laughed at her. She was such a cute drunk. "Lex, I'm not going to try to boss you around, but it is time to go. We're going to be late for our wedding!" "Is it that time already?" Alexis’s stomach started to churn. She wasn't sure if it was from the alcohol or from the thought of being Mrs. Jasper Jacks. "Yes. Are you ready?" he asked, while holding out his hand to her. Her eyes went from his hand to his eyes. She felt that same drawing power she had felt on the plane. This man would be the death of her! "I'm ready," she whispered, placing her hand in his. They stared at each other. Neither was sure about what was happening between them but both knew that something definitely was. * * * * * The man watching the penthouse took out his phone and dialed a number. "She's alone. Corinthos just left. David and Johnny are standing watch. Do you want us to take her now, or wait?" “Move in. But remember, no one is to touch her!" "Yes sir." The man ended the called and started for the penthouse. |
