Chapter 5

Alexis had already had two glasses of champagne and was about to have a third when the limo came to a stop. Jax got out and looked back at her.

"Are you coming?"

"Where are we?" she asked, stumbling out of the limo and right into his arms.  Their eyes locked in a very intense stare.

"We're at the chapel I rented for our wedding," he explained.

"You rented a chapel?" Alexis asked in shock. When he said a Vegas wedding, images of some fat minister dressed up like Elvis had crossed her mind.  Not the beautiful chapel she was now standing in front of.  Jax took her by the hand and walked up the steps to the chapel.

Her mouth dropped open in shock once again when they entered the chapel.  It was beautiful, decorated with flowers and candles. She felt tears threatening to fall.  He had gone out of his way to make even a fake wedding special.

"Mr. Jacks?" a man asked.

"Yes, you must be Father Taylor," Jax said, while shaking his hand.

The man nodded, his eyes falling upon Alexis. "And you must be the bride!"

Alexis blushed.
It's really happening. I'm getting married.

Father Taylor looked at the nervous couple before him and smiled.  "So, do you have family and friends coming?"

"NO!!" Jax and Alexis spoke at the same time, causing the Father to smile.

"Ah, I see."  He had married many couples and understood.

"I'll get my secretary to be your witness then, alright?"

"Thank you," Jax said.  Father Taylor left Jax and Alexis alone.

Alexis looked around the chapel again. "This is beautiful," she whispered, her back to him.

He moved closer to her. "I'm glad you like it," he replied, placing his hands on her shoulders and turning her around to face him.

"I love it, Jax!" Alexis exclaimed, as she got lost in his eyes.  He ran his hand across her cheek.  Alexis’s eyes closed and she leaned into his touch. He was about to say something when Father Taylor returned with his secretary .

"Shall we begin?"

Alexis and Jax looked at each other, an unspoken question asked and answered in their eyes.  Both asking if the other was sure.

They exchanged vows and when Father Taylor asked for the ring, Alexis was once again shocked when Jax placed a beautiful 2 karat diamond ring on her finger.

"You may kiss the bride!" Father Taylor proclaimed.

Jax looked into Alexis eyes and leaned down and pressed his lips gently against hers.  She closed her eyes at the contact and felt herself growing hot.  And this time she was sure it wasn't from the alcohol!

Jax broke the kiss, looked at his new wife and smiled a smile that sent a chill down Alexis’s spine.
Oh God, don't let me fall in love with him, Alexis prayed but somehow she knew it was already too late.

Jax looked at Alexis trying to figure out what she was thinking about.  All that was running through his ming was how much he wanted to kiss her again. He went to speak to Father Taylor, as Alexis went to the limo.

She reached for the bottle of champagne and poured herself a glass, trying unsuccessfully to forget the kiss she had just shared with her husband. And she tried to deny that she wanted another one, badly!

Jax opened the limo door to find Alexis drinking. He smiled and shook his head at her.

"What?” Alexis asked.

He took the champagne bottle from her and poured himself a glass.  He leaned over to her and whispered in her ear, "To us!"

Alexis’s mind screamed,
US? but she said nothing. They were sitting so close.  He leaned towards her again and this time he kissed her. She moaned and pulled him closer, running her fingers through his hair. She never wanted the kiss to end.

But the kiss did end eventually, when they were both in need of oxygen.  Jax pulled away and looked at her. She leaned in and kissed him again, letting him know it was what she wanted.
