Chapter 9 Sonny watched Carly sleeping. Tony had given her a sedative and it had finally taken effect. Her words replayed in his mind. Sonny couldn’t argue with Carly. Jason was dead because of him. Sonny got up from the chair beside her bed and walked to the window, his thought focused on Jason. Flashback Moreno had made a move on Sonny's territory and Sonny and Jason had hired extra men. Carly and Michael were never to be left alone. Moreno had set the coffee warehouse on fire and Sonny had responded by taking over one Moreno’s businesses. Sonny knew that Moreno would strike back and he was right. Moreno made his move at the Nurses Ball. Moreno had sent Hannah into Sonny’s life, although he had no idea that she was working for Moreno. He quickly fell in love with her, just like Moreno had suspected. She look too much like Brenda for him not to. Moreno had men at the ball watching Sonny and Hannah was suppose to lead Sonny to the balcony. Jason didn’t like nor did he trust Hannah. He watched as Sonny and Hannah got up from their table, alone, and then Jason spotted one of Moreno’s men. He knew something bad was about to go down. Sonny had told Johnny that he and Hannah would be fine alone. "Carly, I’ll be right back," Jason said. Carly only rolled her eyes at her husband. He seemed to spend more time worrying about Sonny that he did about his own family. "Jason, Sonny’s a big boy. He can take care of himself," Carly said, annoying creeping in her voice. "Carly, I’ll be right back. I need to tell Sonny something." Jason got up from his chair and kissed Carly on the cheek before heading in the direction Sonny and Hannah had gone a few minutes earlier. Jason was about to walk out on the balcony, where Sonny and Hannah were, when he saw the man. "Sonny! Get down!" Jason yelled, running towards them. Jason stepped in front of Sonny, as gunfire fill the air. Sonny and Jason’s eyes locked. Jason and Sonny both fell to the floor. But only one of them got up. Sonny looked down at his friend. Jason was dead. He had taken a bullet that was meant for him. Carly rushed to Jason’s side. "No! NO! Jason. God no! This is all your fault!!" Carly screamed, as she held Jason’s lifeless body. End of Flashback Sonny turned away from the window to look back at Carly. Tears filled his eyes. Jason had saved his life, by giving his own. Sonny moved to Carly’s side and ran a hand through her hand. "I won't let you down again, Carly. I will bring Michael home!" Sonny whispered, as he kissed her cheek and left the room. As the door closed, Carly stirred and moaned. "Sonny." * * * * * The brown haired girl was feeding Michael when he came back. "Give me the brat!" he said. "Why?" she asked, but the only answer she got was a slap across the face. "Don’t ever question me again, Emily or you’ll be sorry!" he yelled, taking Michael from her and leaving with him. Emily sat down and cried for herself and Michael. The man took Michael to the waiting limo. The window opened and Helena Cassadine smiles as she took the baby from him, giving him a large yellow envelop filled with money in return. The man smiles as he counted the money. "Nice doing business with you," he said, before walking back towards the house. * * * * * Jax watched as Alexis ran up the stairs. He was going to go after her but decided that he should give her some time alone. Jax knew she was scared. The truth of the matter was, he was scared too. He never expected to have feelings for her. But he was in love with his wife and she knew it. That’s why she ran out of the room. Jax knew he had to tell her about Maddie soon. He didn't want to keep secrets from her, now that he wanted a real marriage. He was planning on telling her about Maddie after they were married anyway. Now he was worried about how she would feel that he hadn’t been up-front with her in the beginning. * * * * * Alexis was looking out window, thinking about Jax and his words. ‘I want a real marriage Alexis.’ A real marriage. Alexis closed her eyes to keep the tears from falling. Her life was so out of control and she didn't know how to get it back. Alexis turned from the window to find Jax watching her. Their eyes locked. "Hi," Alexis said. "Hi," Jax replied, as he came into the room and moved to where she was standing. "Alexis, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, I just wanted you to know how I feel," Jax whispered. "I'm sorry too, Jax,” Alexis whispered, looking away from his intense eyes. "This is all happening too fast. I don't even know who I am anymore," Alexis said, looking back out the window. Jax looked out the window too "Alexis," Jax started but Alexis stopped him. "Jax, I don't know what’s happening between us. And I'm not sure if I want to know!" Jax looked at her. "What are you saying Alexis?" "I'm saying that I don't know what I want. I mean we don't even know each other. We spent one night together and now you’re talking about making this thing real," Alexis said. "I know that this is scaring you. It’s scaring me too. I never expected to feel this way but I do." Alexis looked into his eyes. "What do you feel?" Jax looked into her big brown eyes. "I feel love, Alexis" Alexis start shaking her head no. "Yes Alexis, I'm falling in love with you." "Jax, don't say that," Alexis whispered, as a tear rolled down her cheek. "Why?" Author’s note: Emily was never adopted by Quartermaine’s in this story.
