| Chapter 4 Alexis was pacing around the waiting room. Ned had to be taken back into surgery. Tony had explained that Ned was bleeding internally. Alexis sat down and started reading magazines, trying to take her mind off the men in her life. As worried as she was about Ned, she couldn't get Jax out of her thoughts. Alexis threw the magazine across the room. She was angry with herself, her husband was in surgery fighting for his life and she was thinking about Jax. “What's happening to me?” she whispered to herself. Alexis was so lost in her thoughts that she hadn’t realized Monica had sat down beside her until she spoke. "Alexis, Ned might be in surgery for a while. Have you eaten?" "I'm not hungry," Alexis replied. "Alexis, you need to eat something. Ned’s going to need you to be healthy." Alexis looked at Monica knowing that she wasn’t going to leave her alone until she ate something. "You’ll find me when Ned comes out of surgery?" "Of course." * * * * * Jason answered the phone. It was the last person he ever expected to hear form. "Why are you calling me?" "I need your help Jason?" the woman explained. "I told you I didn't want to see or hear from you again." Jason slammed the phone down but he knew that she would call again. Jason looked around the penthouse more determined than ever to start his new life with the woman he loved. "Carly, are you ready?" Jason called from the bottom of the stairs. Carly came down the stairs and looked Jason in the eyes. "Yes I'm ready to go. When do we leave?” "In a few hours. Look Carly, I have some business to take care of before we leave. Will you be okay here alone untill I get back?" "Go, I’ll be fine!" Jason kissed Carly on the cheek and promised not to be gone too long. Once Jason had gone, Carly started to cry. She fell down on the couch and buried her face in a pillow. Sonny opened the door to find Carly crying. "Carly, what's wrong?" Sonny asked rushing to her side. Carly sat up and looked at him. "What are you doing here?" "I needed to speak to Jason," Sonny explained. "Well he went out," Carly said, quickly got off the couch, She didn’t want Sonny comforting her. "Carly, why were you crying?” Carly closed her eyes, not wanting to answer his question. "I don't know. I guess I'm just going to miss Port Charles, that’s all," Carly whispered. Sonny placed a hand on her shoulder, causing her to look at him. "Sonny don't," Carly said and pulled away from him. "Please don't shut me out! Talk to me." "We have nothing to talk about Sonny. In a few hours we will be out of each others lives for good," Carly said in a strong voice but her eyes betrayed her, as tears started to fall. Sonny was about to speak when his cell phone started ringing. * * * * * Jax was sitting in the park thinking about Alexis and praying that Ned would live because he wanted a life with Alexis more than anything. But Jax knew that would never happened if Ned died. Alexis’s guilt would destroy her. "A penny for your thoughts." Jax looked up to find the last person he wanted to see right at that moment. "Hi Chloe." * * * * * Alexis was on her way to the cafeteria when she heard Amy and another nurse talking. She stopped upon hearing Ned’s name. "How is Hannah Scott doing?” the other nurse asked. "She’s alive but she lost the baby!" Amy replied. "She was pregnant?" the nurse asked. "Yea and she was in the car with Mr. Ashton." "Do you think he was having affair with her?" the nurse asked. "It wouldn't be the first time he had an affair. And I heard that he and Alexis were having problems,” Amy whispered conspiratorially. Alexis turned and walked away with tears in her eyes. She was hurt and angry. Why hadn’t anyone told her that Ned wasn’t in the car alone? And with Hannah Scott of all people! Alexis walked out of the hospital with tears in her eyes as everything started to make sense. Ned’s distance, his working late all the time, never having time for her. Of course, he was too busy with Hannah to even remember their wedding anniversary. "You bastard," Alexis whispered to herself, as she walked right into Jax. “I'm sorry," Alexis said without even looking up. "Alexis what happened? Is it Ned?" Jax asked. “Jax, I need to get out of here," Alexis said, starting to walk away from him. “I'm going with you!" Jax proclaimed. Alexis just shrugged and Jax wrapped his arms around her as they walked to his car. |
