The petite blond looked to her teammate. "Debating, Ken. Csanadrith has expressed interest in this Purple-Silver Fuetreeth."
Kendrah nodded. "You'd be better off convincing him to chase Roczath. Anel'hin is a bit more suited to you."
Emily's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean by that?"
"Have you seen Sakraz, Emily? He's not exactly..."
"Have you seen Anel'hin, Kendrah? They say he's a vampire..." Emily's fists curled, but Kendrah paid them no heed. "I've seen Sakraz. So he's got a red-and-black mohawk, and what appears to be a scar like he was attacked by a wildcat over one eye. What's wrong with that?"
Kendrah laughed. "Obviously you haven't looked towards his... assets." Her tone was snide.
The tension was building in that corridor, and outside of the two riders' vison, a group was forming, like they always did around fights. Before Emily could throw the first punch, strong arms wrapped around her, pinning her arms to her sides, even as Greg hauled Kendrah away. Emily fought against her captor, not realizing in her anger that the one she now fought against was the one she was fighting over. She only got angrier when Kendrah started laughing.
"Let me go! Let me at her!" Emily roared, struggling to get out of her captor's grasp.
"Your dragon must be closer to rising than mine." Sakraz laughed, his voice a purr. "And I thought Fuetreeth toyed with my emotions."
This only caused Kendrah to laugh harder. "Emily rides a blue, you overgrown cat!"
Emily fell limp in Sakraz' arms, embarrasment shaming the anger right out of her. It was then that she noticed the stripes on his arms, and his tail flicking in the unmistakable symbol of feline annoyance.
Once she'd relaxed, and Kendrah had been taken away, Sakraz let Emily go. "All this fuss was over me?"
Emily looked down at Sakraz' tiger-paw feet. "Yes..." she admitted reluctantly. For being a fiesty woman, she was tamed in the presence of this wildcatman, and she couldn't figure out why. "Apparently Kendrah doesn't want Csanadrith and I chasing a half-tiger and his dragon."
Sakraz was taken aback. "You know what tigers are?"
Emily laughed. "Of course I do. I'm from Earth - we have tigers there... None like you though." As soon as the words were out of her mouth, Emily regretted saying them.
"I see..." Sakraz said. Something flickered in his eyes. "I have to go. I'll see you later." He said, and then was gone.
Emily shut her eyes and sighed, crashing backwards against the corridor wall and berating herself for her idiocy. Now he'd never talk to her again, and she knew it.
Emily... You're not an idiot. Just sign us up. I'm sure Sakraz will seek you out. Fuetreeth said so herself.
Though she'd not been raised in the Weyr, nor on a world where dragons actually existed, Emily had quickly learned not to argue with her winged friend.

Ryan shielded his eyes and looked towards the sky - a pastel rainbow dragon had just entered. She was quite stunning.
Levaritoth flexed his wings, causing the gold snowflake on his wings to reflect brightly. Vainly, he hoped she saw it.
Ryan continued to oil his bond - even as the blue/white tried to present himself for a female that wasn't really looking.
Univoqueruseth is so looking. She's just been signed onto the Flights board. Levariototh informed his rider haughtily. You will sign me up, won't you?
Ryan looked at his hopeful dragon. How could he turn the second half of his soul down? "Levaritoth - let me meet her rider first. If we're not... compatible..."
Say no more, Ryan. I understand. the flurry dragon said, honestly comprehending his rider's need to make sure things worked out right - on a biological level...
After Levaritoth went off to sun, Ryan went off in search of the pastel rainbow dragoness' rider. Into the main hall he went, where any number of riders - some human, some not - mingled and danced to the music provided at random by any number of capable musicians. Spotting Aeza, one of the rider-healers, he asked. "Do you know which of these is Univoqueruseth's rider?"
Aeza regarded him incredulously. "Say what?"
"Univoqueruseth's rider. The pastel rainbow who arrived today."
Aeza laughed. "You're the first person other than Prax to be able to say that name right today, I think. You want the gazelle, over there."
Ryan's heart sank. Gazelle? With a sigh, he wandered away and got something to drink. His dragon was asleep at the moment, or else he'd know of this snag already.
The sound of hooves on the stone floor brought Ryan out of his reverie, and he looked up at the slim, slightly furred figure of the gazelle in question. "One of the riders said you were looking for me?" She asked.
Ryan smiled at her. "My dragon Levaritoth has taken a liking to your Univoqueruseth..." he said with a sigh.
Prax seemed to be pleased that he hadn't butchered her dragon's name. "So sign him up. Tell me, how did you manage to get my dragon's name right?"
Ryan grinned. "I studied biology before I ended up here and Impressed Levaritoth - the proper scientific names for things sometimes roll off my tongue easier than their use-names..."
