Once your name is on the list, parents will be able to access this website if they are looking for therapists for their children with autism. They will contact you if they are interested. In other words, these parents will hire you. Many people are mistaken that I am the one responsible for the hiring. All I am doing is gathering names of people who would consider becoming interventionists. This way, parents don't have to go through too much hassle advertising positions for therapists, or using other means to find people who would be willing to work for their children.
Training should be provided for inexperienced applicants. Personally, I think that if you have patience, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn, you are more than qualified to become an interventionist. Some parents may require experience, whereas others may not.
To summarize what I have mentioned above, here are the basic steps in becoming Behavior Interventionists (through this website):
Step 1: Have your name and information listed on this website
Step 2: A parent looking for a therapist may visit this website, and be interested in hiring you.
Step 3: The parent will contact you.
Step 4: If both parties are interested, you will negotiate terms of employment with the parent (wages, shifts, training, etc.)
Step 5: You are now an interventionist---your exciting journey begins on day 1 of your interaction with the child
Step 6: This is optional, but I would certainly appreciate it if you can email me to let me know that you have been hired. This way, I would know if this website is actually serving its purpose. It would really make my day to hear that you have been hired as an interventionist!
