You might ask "What is magick?" or "Why is it spelt with a k?". In this page I will endeavour to answer these and more questions that might arrise.

Firstly, magick is spelt with a k to distinguish that we're talking about real magick, not sleight of hand or parlour tricks. Secondly what is magick? Magick is anything which cannot be explained by rational science which anyone can do with some practice and a little background knowledge.

Chaos Magick

This type of magick is not really a type of magick but a system of getting results from whatever magick you do, choose from any religion, any magick system and any belief system (whether fact or fiction) to use in your magick and if it works use it! That's Chaos Magick. There is no heirarchy here, do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. Evil only exists if you believe it does, same applies to good. Man/Woman is god in Chaos Magick, unless you choose to follow under an entity/god.

Wicca

A rather odd, almost elfen society who call themselves witches and priestesses, they worship/follow a goddess who rules the universe, along side this goddess is the god, second in the heirarchical command, next to him are the priestesses and possibly angels & daemons. Their magick is very ritual based, with groups called Covens each presided over by a high priestess. They follow a set of rules where humans are the lowest form of life, there is no devil but there is apparently evil. Wicca decends from christianity, taking many of the beliefs from christianity, such as the harm none rule, and adapting it to their beliefs, I believe Wicca was started in the 16th century, some say it's older some say it was started last century...?

Quantum Magick

This is a kind of odd magick, it is slowly being understood by science. The theory of quantum magick comes almost directly from quantum physics. The idea is that there are an infinite number of universes and they all make up what physicists and mages alike call the multiverse. According to Quantum Physics the universe/multiverse is to some extent defined by consciousness, this is where magick comes in. Since what we can believe can come into reality all we have to do as mages is believe totally that what we want or what we want to happen will come into being and we will be placed into the section of the multiverse in which that thing does happen.

Satanism

This is something that many people find a taboo subject, the practice of Satanism is the worship of Satan/Lucifer/Beelzebub, the reason for this is that people can get great physical rewards from this practice. There are many versions of Satanism, there is the christianized version which involves selling your soul to the service of Satan, the Anton La Vayan version which has many rituals and sexual practices and is basically used to gain power, position and riches from life. Then there is the version which involves just being dark, drawing power from darkness, enjoying the dark side of life. Gothics sometimes consider themselves Satanists, but not always.

Gothics

Being a gothic person is a way of expressing yourself as an individual of showing that you are not happy with society and that it should be based more on the individual rather than the masses. Some gothic people simply dress that way to fit in with their friends, others to express how they feel. There are also a select few who practice magick, these tend to follow vampyric paths though there are quite a few wiccans among them.

Black Magick

Practitioners of Black Magick are of many paths, some follow Satanism, some are offshoots of Wicca. Black Magick is based around heavy ritual, chanting to spirits, angels, demons, gods and godesses for power to get results from their magick. This is a powerful form of magick formed from years of study and practice.

Servitor - a thoughtform or energy being designed by a magickian/you to perform a specific service designed by the magickian/you.

Sigil - an image to signify something, that something can represent anything the magickian/you want it to. Sigils are usually made by writing down the object/thing/thought/etc the sigil will represent and cancelling out repeating letters and drawing them together to make a picture.

Spell - Usually used in rituals, spells are sets of words designed to get the magickian/you to concentrate on what you are trying to do and can be a form of communication to whatever you are calling up.

Circles - Most magickians will agree that circles are useful in magick, not all will agree on their use, circles can be used for protection during rituals or to bind an entity into so it doesn't harm you when you have summoned it, it's very important to release all entities you call up or they will stick around and bug you all the time.

Things to be wary of:

Depression is common amongst those who practice magick, it is usually due to a number of factors, including the fact that magick requires a lot of energy to use, other times it's as simple as not being accepted by family or friends because of your chosen path.

Spirits that you call up will often hang around unless you banish them, there usually isn't any harm in this but just to be safe it is best to get rid of them.

Psychic Vampyres and Nasties are common on the astral planes, on your first astral projection it is best to be aware of them, the reason for this is that if your first projection is scary you will often not be able to project again without much difficulty... I should know!
