Chapter 1

She slid a few bills over to the bartender and spun around, drink in hand. Her eyes scanned the crowd, looking...searching. Bringing the straw to her lips, she sipped at her drink. This was one of her favorite parts, the searching. Almost half as fun as the game, almost.

Nothing was quite like that adrenaline rush that she felt after she won.  A smiled teased her lips at the thought of what was in store for later. She continued watching, when a young man approached her. He definitely wasn't what she was looking for and as he came to stand in front of her, she could feel and see his arrogance. So typical for guys, thinking they could have whatever or whoever they wanted. Sadly mistaken with her. Of course she did want a little action, what the heck.

She smiled up at him. "Hey honey."

"Hi there. What's your name?"

No no, not yet.  "You come here often? I've never seen you before." She stared at him, forcing him to respond.

"Uhh, no. This is my first time actually."

Oh this is nice; it just made it all that much better. Uncomfortable and unfamiliar, oh yes, this was very nice. "What's your name handsome?" She purred.

"Rich."

"Well Rich, this is your lucky night." She smiled, taking his hand and leading him out of the club.

She slowly made her way back over to the chair and sat. She stared blandly at the drink on the table and pushed it aside. Didn't need that anymore. She looked back out over the crowd. That'd been much too easy, didn't last too long either. Sighing heavily, she wanted someone to give her a little chase, a little excitement. Rich hadn't done that for her and her victory, a modest one, but a victory nonetheless. Suddenly she was tired, she'd been out all night, and now all she wanted to do was sleep. Grabbing her purse from off the floor, she slid off the barstool and started out the bar.

"Hey baby, how bout you giving me your number?" A voice whispered in her ear.

She stopped, there was always one. Slowly she turned. "How bout I don't and you can go home and pretend I did." She said coldly.

"Aww come on, don't be like that baby."

She raised an eyebrow. "Did I give you permission to call me baby?"

The guy looked at her. "You're joking right?"

"Did I?"

"Whatever. Look, why don't you give me that number, and then you can give me permission to do more than call you baby." He whispered, winking at her.

She stared at him, trying to control her temper. Quickly she stepped past him, not wanting to cause a seen, she was too fuckin' tired and she didn't have much time.

"Don't walk away from me!" He yelled, reaching out and grabbing her arm.

Big mistake. She whirled around, grabbing him by the neck, lifting him slightly. "Don't fuck with me asshole. You have no idea what you're dealing with. I said no, now stay the hell away from me, got it?" She whispered coldly.

Pure fear in his eyes, he nodded his head quickly. She released him roughly and quickly fled.
***************
AJ rubbed at his eyes and headed out the club. He was tired and wanted to sleep, needed to sleep.  He started over to the limo that was waiting, Marcus his bodyguard, coming up beside him. He started to get inside when something caught his eye. A young woman came out of a club down the street, running a hand through her hair, she started towards him.

"Marcus, hold up man. I'll be right back." He started walking towards her when she disappeared down an alley. Quickly he started running, he rounded the corner and there she was. He started after her when suddenly she stopped. She appeared be listening for something, her head was cocked to the side. Just then a guy came out and approached her. AJ moved up closer.

Not again, two in one night. She rolled her eyes as the man approached her. She'd been aware of the man that had followed her into the alley; she'd deal with him later. She turned her attention back to the man in front of her.

"Hey baby...how's about you and me havin' a little fun?" He leered.

"What is it with everyone calling me baby?!" She yelled, throwing her hands up in frustration.

The man stepped closer. She raised an eyebrow. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." She warned.

"Oh and why not? You gonna scream or something?" He laughed harshly.

"Maybe."

"Yeah well, I'll give ya something to scream about." He lunged at her, grabbing her around the waist, pulling her up to him.

It was fun sometimes to let them think she was all vulnerable and innocent. Sometimes, now wasn't one of them.

"Take your filthy, fuckin' hands off me you bastard."

"Is that any way to greet your man...the man that's gonna make you scream."

She rolled her eyes. No need to be nice about it. Grabbing at his hands that were on her waist, she pushed them off roughly and shoved him back. He stumbled, shocked and stared at her.

"You're gonna pay for that bitch."

She stared at him as he advanced on her again. Lifting his hand to strike her, but she was quicker. With lighting reflexes, she grabbed his hand, twisting it roughly till she heard a crack. The guy called out in pain, with superhuman strength, she picked him up and threw him across the alley. He slammed against a wall and slumped to the ground, calling out in pain. She watched in amusement as he shied away from her as she came to stand in front of him.

"What...what the hell are you?" He moaned, staring stupidly into her eyes.

"Death." She smiled, her eyes glowing in the dark alley. Opening her mouth she lunged at him, sinking her teeth into his neck.

Stupid humans.

********************
AJ ran up, he couldn't see anything. The light from the streetlight didn't reach all the way into the alley. He looked around frantically. He'd seen the guy grab her and her push him back. He hoped she was ok. He moved closer and suddenly he heard a sound and stopped.

"H-hello?" He called. He heard the tapping before he saw the shoes they belonged to. He watched as two feet made their appearance and slowly a figure came into view. His eyes ran over the woman that now stood before him. She was average height with long black hair and deep brown eyes. Her uncommonly bright red lips, seemed to glow in the darkness. He couldn't tare his eyes away as if by some force, he started walking towards her.

He stopped in front of her, staring at her. He couldn't blink, he couldn't move. She studied him for a moment before smiling at him. She reached up and gently caressed his face. Her hand slowly moving down his neck, her fingers gently resting on his pulse which was now racing. Something like satisfaction gleamed in her eyes.

"No need to be scared, I won't hurt you." She whispered.

Those eyes, so cold, so...empty. He swallowed hard. Her touch, her fingers, were so cold. She blinked, as if she were coming out of a trance, and quickly snatched her hand away. Finally he could move, blinking rapidly, he shook his head. His gaze wandered over to the man he'd seen earlier. He quickly made his way over. He was slumped against the wall, his head tilted to the side. He was eerily pale. Kneeling down, AJ looked him over. He couldn't see what had happened, maybe a heart attack. He was ready to stand, when something caught his eye. He blinked and slowly leaned forward, his eyes widening. Two bite marks on his neck.

AJ stood quickly and turned to find that he was alone in the alley. Who was that woman? He looked back down at the guy one last time before turning and running out the alley.

She watched him leave, getting into a limo and driving off. She didn't know why she'd spared his life. She could've taken him, but he was...different. She'd looked into his eyes and saw something, something she wasn't prepared for. He'd made her break her mind control over him, she looked away first. She couldn't get though and see his thoughts, she couldn't hold on. She ran a hand over her face in frustration. Turning her head, she saw that the sun was starting to rise. She had to get home. Turning quickly she left the alley.
