Chapter 31 Keyana handed the cashier some money, then turned to Gabs and Erin. They'd been out shopping all day at the mall. "So where to next? What?" Gabs and Erin were staring at her. "What?" Keyana said exasperated. "You two have been looking at me like that all day." "You seem different." Gabs muttered, narrowing her eyes. "Different?" "Yeah, like you're all...giddy." Erin announced. "You make that sound like a bad thing." Keyana rolled her eyes, taking the change from the cashier and turning to walk out the store. "No it's not bad K, it's just..." Gabs started. "What?" "Did you screw Nick?" Erin asked bluntly. "ERIN!" "What? Answer the question." Erin replied calmly. "Of course not!" "Well you are walking around on cloud nine with that "I just got some" look."Gabs admitted. "I don't believe this, I do not!" "Oh defensive aren't we? What's going on with you two?" Erin questioned. "Nothing! He's my client!" They walked into another store. Keyana turned so they wouldn't have to see the guilt in her eyes. "Yeah, a client with perks." Gabs muttered. Keyana whirled around. "He is not!" "Ohh you have guilt written all over your face." Erin smirked. "I have nothing to be guilty about." Keyana replied, turning back around and picking up a music box. "Then why won't you look at us?" Gabs asked. "I am!" "Turn around Keyana." Erin demanded. Keyana turned. "Now look at us." Gabs pressed. Keyana slowly lifted her eyes to meet theirs. "What's happening K? Just tell us. We can see it in your eyes." Erin said softly. Keyana sighed, she couldn't tell them. They wouldn't understand, hell she didn't even understand it. "Nothing, nothing's happening." "Do we have to remind you that there's someone who I'm sure is missing you." Gabs mentioned. "Y-yeah, I know." "Be careful Keyana. Whatever is happening can only cause heartache." Erin whispered. Keyana looked away, they were right and she knew it. It was too late for her now, she was in over her head, and the only way to get out was to do exactly what she'd been thinking of, what she'd been dreaming of. ********************************************************************* Later that evening, Keyana sat on her bed trying to read, to do anything to keep her mind off the previous evenings events, it wasn't working. She needed some kind of distraction, just then the phone rang. She reached over and picked it up, secretly hoping it would be him. "Hello?" "Hey baby." Damn! "Hi Shane." "What's up, you busy?" "No, just reading. Why, you have something in mind?" "Well I just wanted to stop by, I missed you." She bit her lip and looked nervously around the room. Could she really handle seeing him now? "Keyana?" "Yeah?" "You ok? You got all quiet." "No I'm fine." She bit her lip again. Would he pick up on her hesitation, or know what she was doing like Nick had? "Oh ok." Obviously no. She rubbed at her head angerily, he knew nothing about her. "Cool I'lll be there in a few." Shane hung up. She slalmmed the phone down angrily. She'd known him a hell of a lot longer than Nick, but he knew nothing, not a thing about her. He didn't pick up on the little things like Nick did. He never cooked for her, he never gave her massages or anything. What in the hell was going on? What was happening to her feelings for Shane? |
