She paced back and forth, she was scared. Once again she was gonna do this and hurt him. She didn't want to hurt him, but she would be hurting him more if she didn't. Thankful it was the weekend, so she wouldn't have to wait all day at work, she reached over and picked up her phone. She dialed quickly and waited.
"Hello?"
"Hi, it's me."
"Hey baby. What's up?"
"We need to talk Shane."
He was quiet.
"I can't, I can't keep doing this to you. I thought that if we got back together, everything would be fine, but it wasn't. It's not."
"I know Keyana. I figured that's why you wanted to get back together, to try to stop what you were feeling for him. It didn't work did it?"
"No, it didn't."
"You know, all last night and the night before, I could tell you were distracted, that you were thinking about him. It hurts to know that managed to get to you, to make you care for him. That he could so easily take you from me. Makes me think I wasn't a good boyfriend."
"Oh Shane! That's not it at all, you're a wonderful man, any girl would be lucky to have you. Any girl would want you."
"Just not you anymore right?" He whispered.
She couldn't say anything, there was nothing left for her to say. She heard him sigh.
"So I guess we're breaking up again huh."
"Oh Shane, I'm so sorry. I'd be hurting you more if I stayed with you. You deserve so much better than me." She whispered.
"You were the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Keyana. I hope he's worth all this, I hope he treats you the way you should be treated."
That's if he still wanted her. They were quiet for a moment when Shane spoke finally.
"So I guess this is it. Take care Keyana. I love you."
She closed her eyes, tears falling slowly down her face. "I love you too Shane. Bye."
"Bye."
She heard the click and slowly hung up the phone. There was only one thing left to do. She would prepare herself for that evening.
