Chapter 55
The door swung open and Nyla smiled. "Hey!"
"Nyla!" Erin squealed, grabbing her in a tight hug. "Girl, I've been worried sick about you!"
Nyla hugged her tightly; "I've really missed you."
Erin reluctantly let her go and pulled her in. "I've missed you too! So, tell me all about what happened! I wanna know everything."
"Wait wait, first tell me about you. You know ya gotta tell me what's going on, how are you doing? "
"I'm great." Erin grinned.
"I can tell, did something happen?"
"Happen?"
Nyla grinned, "What?!"
Erin giggled, "Nothing!"
"Stop lying!"
Erin shrugged, "Nothing really...just...ya know, I'm seeing AJ now."
"Stop it!" Nyla laughed.
"Seriously!"
"Finally!"
"I know!"
"Well that's great, it's about damn time!" Nyla winked.
"He couldn't resist any longer, broke down finally and asked me out to dinner and all that." Erin sighed dreamily.
Nyla shook her head, "Got your wish huh?"
"Ya know, beneath that rough exterior, he really is romantic...it's..."
"Ooook, spare me the details alright? I can do without the googly eyes." Nyla snickered.
Erin blushed crimson and cleared her throat, "So, enough about me, what happened?"
Nyla took a breath and started recalling the events of the past week.
An hour later...
"...Then they left." She finished.
"I don't believe it, I just do not believe it!" Erin gasped.
"Believe it, it's true." Erin shook her head.
"Well I'll be damned, Scott and Celeste. Wow and they never lead on or anything, I ran into them one time last week and I mean...you couldn't even tell."
Nyla shrugged, "Good for them, they seem really happy and I'm glad they found each other, even if...well...it was during something like this."
"So then what's the deal with you and Nick?"
"What do you mean?"
"What do you mean what do I mean? So are you two together again or whatever?"
Nyla shook her head, "No, I mean, we both just got out of relationships, it'd be too soon, besides, I'd feel funny about asking for another chance."
"Why?"
"Cause, it just doesn't seem right."
"You said he forgave you right?"
"Well...yeah."
"So what's to feel funny about? He wants you, you want him bing bang bong!"
"It's not that easy Erin! I don't know that he wants me!"
Erin rolled her eyes, "Whatever, yes you do and you know it."
"I do not, I just can't go assuming anything."
"Look, Nyla, you want him right?"
"Well I..."
"Answer the question."
"Umm...well...yeah, yeah I do."
"You love him...correct?"
She hesitated and Erin continued to stare at her.
"You can say it, I know, I've always known."
"Yeah, yeah I do still love him," Nyla sighed.
"Ok then, what's holding you back? Go for it!"
"I can't Erin!"
"You can so! Stop chickening out! You owe this to yourself, to the both of you to give it another shot. You found out you were wrong before and if it weren't for that, you two would still be together. You're not happy with anyone else and neither is he."
Nyla rubbed at her forehead, "Ok, so what if I go there? What if I ask him and he says it's not what he wants? What then Erin? I'm gonna look like an ass again and believe me after the week I had, I don't think I could take anything else, especially not from Nick."
"You have to at least try Nyla, try. Hey, ya never know, but from what you've told me, he wants this just as much as you do, maybe even more so. He never wanted it to end Nyla, he never needed anyone but you."
Nyla looked over at her and sighed.
"You can do this Nyla, you can. You two belong together. Don't cheat yourself...the both of you again out of what you both know is the greatest love of your lives." Erin finished softly.
She looked down a minute then back up at Erin, smiling. "Thanks Erin."
"That's what I'm here for." Erin grinned, leaning in to hug her tightly.
