Chapter 40
She closed the door and leaned against it. The smile had formed from the moment she walked out and was still there now. She hadn't felt this good in so long, she had forgotten how nice it was. She walked over to the couch and sat down, she couldn't stop smiling. Turning she buried her face in the pillow and screamed. It was truly amazing. She bolted up and grabbed the phone and dialed.
"Hello?"
"Kris?! Hi!"
"Wow, you're awfully excited. What's up sweetie?"
"Nothing, just wanted to call."
"Oh."
"Yeah! So how's your morning been so far?" She couldn't keep the excitement out her voice. "Great...what is going on? You sound like you're going to burst."
"Nothing is wrong! Everything is great...perfect!"
"Wow. Ok, so how was your morning?"
"My morning was amazing and wonderful and...and..."She sighed.
"Cut the shit and tell me what happened!" Kris demanded.
She bit her lip. "I, I just got home. I was out all last night."
"Uh-huh."
"So I hung out with a friend and went swimming and stuff."
"Go on."
"And well...the friend was Nick."
"Oh...OH! Oh god! You spent the night with Nick!"
Illana laughed. "Yeah I did."
"Wow, so did you two get it on?" Kris asked excitedly.
"Kris!"
"Ok, that wasn't answer. I know my name, answer the question." Kris demanded.
She laughed again.
"Yes! You did, woohoo you did!"
"Kris really, I don't think that..."
"Illana got some action! Yeah baby!"
"Kris stop th..."
"Oh yeah! Hit that sh..."
"KRIS!"
"Oh...sorry." She giggled. "Got a little carried away."
"I guess so!" Illana chuckled.
"So?"
"What?"
"How was it?"
"Kris!!"
"What?! I wanna know. I mean was he like..."
"Kristina don't even THINK about asking." She heard her laugh.
"But seriously Illana, how do you feel? Was it nice?"
"It was very nice, Nick is sweet." She sighed, her eyes drifting shut.
"I think someone's in love."
Illana's eyes snapped open. Love? "Love? I don't think so." But even as she said it, she wasn't so sure.
"Right."
"We're just friends."
"Friends don't do what you two did."
"Twice." Illana blurted.
"Twice?! You mean you two...twice? Two times?!"
"Mmm...yeah...again this morning."
"Damn girl!" Kris squealed.
"Well I'm gonna go, I think I'm gonna take a nap."
"Oh yeah, worn out huh?" Kris chuckled.
She walked right into that one. "Whatever. I'll call ya later."
"Bye!" Illana hung up the phone and started towards her room when the phone rang again. Figuring it was Kris calling back, she picked it up abruptly.
"I'm not worn out!" She laughed.
"Illana?" She stopped. "Vanessa."
"Hi."
"Hello."
"Hi...I just...I was calling cause I wanted to ask you to come over. I need to talk to you."
She sounded different Illana noticed. "I'm not coming over for you to yell at me Vanessa. So you can just forget it."
"No, no yelling. I need to talk to you. Please Illana." She asked softly.
"What's going on?"
"I'll explain when you get here. Please."
Illana sighed. "Fine. I'll be there in a few minutes." She hung up and shook her head. What was going on? Turning she quickly headed up to her room.
