Mary's Personal Breast Reduction Story
*The Breast Infection*
In June, my right breast began to hurt. I would take a shower, and my breast would throb. It felt as if it were on fire at times, and very heavy. I'd have to wear a bra (being a size 48 DDD chest), and it would hurt just putting the bra on. Finally, one evening I had just finished taking a shower and my entire breast hurt so much that I lay in my bed and cried. My boyfriend tried to figure out what was wrong, but all I could do was lay there and cry like a baby.
Pain during my c-section with my first born son in 1998 was tolerable, this pain was not. I'd noticed a red line on my breast extending from the middle of my breast all the way toward the nipple area but I didn't think anything of it. I have had problems before with my breasts; including cysts, heat rashes, and back pain....but that all had went away within a day or two. This pain had stayed with me for about a week before I actually did something about it.
I tried finding information online about breast infections, however, I didn't turn up anything that could possibly explain the pain I was feeling. I couldn't sleep comfortably without shooting pains. I would sit in the bathtub, because my chest hurt so bad and was so sore when I would wash it, that it would actually make me cringe in pain.
I made a doctor's appointment with my doctor (she's really nice) the following week. I had to wait three days to see her, but when I came to her office she examined the breast. Right away she said, "You've got a breast infection." She told me to take the antibiotic pill keflex by mouth three times a day and wrote me a prescription. She also told me to put warm compresses on the right breast for a few times daily to make the swelling and pain go away.
I started keflex that day (rather large horse pills/antibiotics), and within two days the pain had went away, I thought everything was back to normal. I continued taking keflex, however the heavy feeling in my right breast continued to trouble me. It felt as if it were very swollen, and extremely heavy and tender. Even after the help of keflex, I still felt tender when I tried to put on a bra, and I tried to dismiss the feeling. I thought the pills had made everything magically disappear...how wrong I was. This pole was made to better serve my website viewers.
