Mrs Latore will be using the items that are on the list for the workshop. If you are unable to procure all you will be able to see her demonstrate how to make the items from other learners' materials and you can try making them/it on your own at home. Take as much material that you can find but don't feel disheartened if you do not have everything. Learners who did papier mache in Level 1 should paint it white with poster paint and take it next week. 1E learners and all level 2 groups will be a part of the workshops. Groups 1A, 1B, 1C, 1F may join if they complete their computer classes before Thursday. Bye. See you all on Tuesday January 3, 2006.

                                       Hot News on       Old JM Pension Case
===========================================================
Hot       Meeting on Wednesday May 5, 2001
Wednesday May 2, was a memorable day when ex jm  employees turned out in large numbers to show that they were not going to   take a six for a nine from government. "We want our our pension money they       declared.

       They came united and had their spokespersons who spoke quite eloquently on  their behalf. The pilots though, had concerns about accepting a part of       the funds and this opinion was shared by others. The pilots felt that the       members should be allowed to show their  support as to whether       persons would take a part of their money from government and then receive       the rest later. Some said they would accept that if it would not be taxed.       A vote was not allowed on this.

On speaker wondered which was worse - "To be held up by a gunmen or to       have government taking your hard earned pension money."  Spokespersons  requested that the trustees should ensure full transparencies in whatever       they do. They also requested that estimates should be given by the trustee       of expected legal and other costs. Trustees were again asked to make       minutes and correspondences available to the     members
The       trustees will be meeting with Ministry officials on Friday, May 11. Word       out there is that anything can be expected from the members if they do not       hear some positive words from the government.
Members       say that they will be asking overseas members to demonstrate their disgust       over the matter by demonstrating in front of embassies and other such       places. Many persons felt that international support should be sought for       the cause which should include seeking support from the US congress.
The       news media was well represented. (05/05/01)

       Meeting       With Finance Minister's Representative - Nothing New.

Well once again it was another meeting this       week with one of Finance Minister, Omar Davies key person. Nothing new to       reveal though except that the Finance Minister will be sending a letter to       the trustees next week.
In the meantime many are asking for a general meeting and       all indications are that the trustees plan to have one. Reliable sources       claim that the Finance Ministers people are questioning the rate of       Interest being charged on the the pension fund being held by the       government.
It is important to note that the government has made no       public commitment to pay over these funds by a certain date.(10/03/01)

IT'S       NOW MARCH 2001 AND THE MEMBERS ARE ASKING MANY QUESTIONS
Well, February has come and gone and not withstanding all the positive       position of many, we still have not received our funds. It's no use we       continue to speculate nor to consider this money when me make our plans.       The members continue to ask many questions.
Can someone let us know if       the Trustees have the current names and addresses for the over 4000 people       who are to benefit? After the trustees have ascertained how much each       member is to receive, are they going to send out statements to each       member so that each member can check the figures before payment is done?
Are the trustees required       to prepare a statement of account prior to and after payments have been       made to the members? What will happen to the funds for those who are dead       and have left no wills?
How much do we owe the       lawyers? Supposed the government takes a long time to  pay over the       funds and the trustess are unable to meet their debts, who will pay those       debts?
What will happen if the       government claims that it has no money to pay and payment has to be made       over a very long period. Will the payment by taxed?
