More of Vancouver's Old Flyer Trolleybuses in Action
Racing an Artic
Basic Trainer
Training Wheels: It was incongruous to spot a training run so late in the E901 era.  It was March 6, 2008 -- only a month before Farewell Runs and retirement. Outcome of Race Not Moot: Articulated R8067 should defeat Flyer 2867 every time, including uphill.  The diesels have enough pickup to throw a careless standee onto his backside, as I can attest personally.
Near Waterfront Station That Darn Cab
Going to Gastown: We see 2870 turning off Seymour onto Cordova with a New Flyer behind her. This just happens: I nicknamed 2946 "Cab In Front" after this shot.  RR enthusiasts will recognize the joke.
Broad Side of an E901
Under Fir St ramp near the tracks
The Broad Side of an E901: 2870 was caught across from the Steamworks brewery on Cordova Street in Gastown.  From this angle, the E901 looks long and blocky.  Quite shapeless really.
A Vancouver Blizzard: The 2743 about to cross the CP's Arbutus Line tracks on a raw December morning in 2007.  The E901's systems were gradually made weathertight and finally outgrew an unfortunate penchant for quitting on snowy days. A larger version of this photo is here.
Farewell to E901 Night
Farewell to E901 Night: I waited hours to make this shot of the "Farewell" convoy turning off Granville Bridge.  It was April 26, 2008, and this was the first of the two Farewell runs;  the other was on the 27th, the following Sunday afternoon.  The unit illustrated, 2805 in BC Transit paint, accompanied the blue-and-gold 2704 on both Farewell runs, while little 2040 came out only on the Sunday.  My main memory of the night was seeing a TB on Broadway split the Granville left-turn switch, and pull current from diverging wires until the poles came off at 30 MPH.  That hadda hurt.
