Story begins of Vainamoinen, the firs man on the earth. As he borned without other peoples and voices around he learned the songs of nature and the world around, and became a great wisard and ord of songs and spells.
Then little by little, other humans were born. One of them was Ilmarinen, the boy that Vainamoinen taught about world and the sky, but after all he was more interested in earth. He didn't want to be made. He wanted to be teh one who makes, and so he became a great smith and male with powerfull mind.
Ilmarinen had a wife that he loved very, verry much, but she diesd from him, and Ilmarinen could not find anyone who was equal with his lost wife. So he made one. He forged wife for himself from cold and silver and Vainamoinen was supposed to put give her the spirit. Vainamoinen did make her walk and be, but never realyl could make her really live. Still, Ilmarinen seemed happy, so Vainamoinen left him alone with his new wife.
Those times was young Joukahainen riding a horse with his pretty sister, his reason to buy a sword from the Smith. And as he was young and foolish, and the respect that old Vainamoinen got from the people started to annoy him, he went to pick a fight with old wisard.
Well he soon noticed that Vainamoinen was a way too much for him, and could be very mean if he was made angry. Vainamoinen was about to kill Joukahainen by singing him to sink inside the ground, but Joukahainen did beg for mercy, and promiced him anythign he desired from him. As Joukahainen's father was rich and their home was full of treasures of all kind, he couldn't have thought that Vainamoinen only wanted that what was with him at the moment. His sister.
But Joukahainen's sister Aino didn't like the idea to become a wife to an old man, so she drowned herself into a lake.
