In Kalevala, there were borned a boy, that grew up and became a beautifull, young man with mind that desired for adventures. Lieto Lemminkäinen, who lived with his mother as his father has died in war. Lemminkäinen's mother did everythign she could to keep her son out of dangers, but nature, that he had got from his father was stronger than his mother's will.
In very young age, when Lieto started to really be interested in women, he went for them. He rode the way to eastlands on his horse and kiddnapped a wife to himself. The wife, named Kyllikki, was afraid to become a wife of such a man with warheard, so they made a deal. As long as Kyllikki would not run out to the village with her new friends and have fun like other young girls did, Lieto would not go to wars.
That promice didn't last for long, as Kyllikki left the house one night to join her friend and see the village and it's men. And when Lieto noticed this, he put on his armor, took his sword and went to get his horse. His mother was after him, begging him to stay home. "How i could stay fearing for you every night and day? How I could know when to weep for you if you are dead and when not to weep if you still live?" Lemminkäinen wiped some dirt off his clothes with a brush, and said: "When this brush dripps blood, you know that I am dead." And then he left.
He left to see if there is women in north that could suit for him. He came to Pohjola and noticed that many men had fallen in love with the daughter of Hiisi and he wanted to try if he is able to get her. Just to show others what kind of man he is.
But Louhi, the hostess of Pohjola didn't want him to have her daughter. So she gave him very difficult work to do to get her. He had to catch the Elk of Hiisi. The fastest animal that ever walked on earth. Lemminkäinen did that, and after painfull hunt he returned to Louhi...jsut to get another job to do.
Thsi time, he had to turn the swamp of snakes into a field. That wrok he did too, with swet and blood. And then returned to Louhi for his final test, that I will tell you about later...
Meanwhile in Kalevala, Vainamoinen was thinking hard, how to do his quest to make a boat, without touching, or without buying. Great wisard he was, but he didn't know, how to make a boat by a speel. Many days he sat on the shore and jsut thinked, untill finally he found only one way to get the right words for the spell.
