Insects
Going Buggy
The trail from post 3 to the edge of the vernal pool lends itself to insect watching. Solitary Bees, Anise Swallowtails, Monarchs, and several species of dragonflies drift through the air while ants and beetles scurry past your feet.
Hurt no living thing;
Ladybird, nor butterfly,
Nor moth with dusty wing,
Nor cricket chirping cheerily,
Nor grasshopper so light of leap,
Nor dancing gnat, nor beetle fat,
Nor harmless worms that creep.
