BIOGRAPHY :
Fuck, this is gonna be hell. Writing a bio about Nahende Vernichtung in English I mean.
And who wants to read about our past and present anyway. Or am I mistaken?
Well, for you people who would like to know !!!!!!!!!!
AUG. 1991 :
You've probably never heard of this small village in Belgium called "Beernem" but it's there where
Rik(guitar) and Stefan(bass) decide to start a band. At the time, both are into bands like
"Black Flag, Exploited, Misfits, Ramones, etc. so there is no doubt how they want their own
band to sound like. The search for a drummer and a singer isn't that hard and soon there is :
Willie on drums, Lazy on vocals and on top of that an extra guitarplayer(Wouter).
Back then they are still in school and you know what that means, hey? No money, cheap
amplifiers, cheap guitars and a drumset that looks as if a train drove over it. The knowledge
on how to play their instrument is still very little and the covers they play of their favourite bands
do sound more like chaotic versions of some of the very first Napalm Death songs. After
calling themselves "Drop Dead, Insanity, Silent scream and The Toxic Pigs" they come up with
a name found in a book called "Kunst gegen den krieg".
NAHENDE VERNICHTUNG : (is German for "Approaching Destruction")
It's aug.'92 : Wouter decides to leave so does Stefan and because at the time the others have
problems finding a rehearselroom and also with their parents about bad results at school, they
decide to put their band on hold for some time. Doesn't mean they quit but the intention is to
stop doing gigs for a certain period. That period is gonna last three long years.
They never stop practising though and in the meantime they've replaced Stefan by Paul.
A few months later Lazy suddenly dissapears( moved to another city) and it's somewhere end '95
when they decide to fully go on with it. In the meantime Rik and Paul have learned how
to "sing" properly and after a few gigs wich one of them is recorded they manage to get
themselves into a recording studio to do a 5-track tape. On it, the're also three songs of
live tape I mentioned before but because of some difficulties(again), it's aug.'96 when finally
the demo comes out. A hundred copies are made of it and they are gone in no time. They
play a lot during that time but they never cross borders.
It's july '97 and they start recording songs for a MCD but due to a lack of money it's gonna
take five months to finish the recording, mix and mastering. It's febr.'98 when it comes out
and on it : Ten tracks of fast furious hardcore-crustpunk. The reason why some of you never
could get one is simply because they tryed to do things as DIY as possible. Means, you only
could get it at gigs or directly through the band. It's now deleted but I hope somebody will
re-release and distribute it someday.
Octobre 1998 : After a few hassles, Paul decides to quit, but he stays close to the band.
I think because I'm a big fan and good friends with them for a long time, Rik and Willie ask
me if I would like to do the bassparts, wich I thankfully accept. In fact, just in time for the next
recording session. Three songs for a split-ep with another Belgian band "The Barjackers".
It's only Rik's voice that you hear on the split and because my voice isn't rough enough we have
to find us a singer. After some talking, a guy called Alex decides that he is the man for the job.
He's got a great voice, kinda' like Call from Discharge and we do one recording with him
(sounds great though) but we have to let him go because of no motivation. These two
songs aren't going to be released I think.
Anyway, one sunday night at the pub, a guy (WARD) comes up to me and asks me if we are
still looking for a singer and if he could give it a try. Shit!!!!, turns out he's a great guy and he can
sing too, so we're back on track.
In the meantime, the split comes out and we can start playing shows again.
ABOUT the split : It's not released on any label but if you try you can order it through some of
them 'cause we trade a lot nowadays. Also you can order it directly through us.
And like I said, we trade too.
Plans for another single in the spring of 2000 are being delayed due to Willie's broken finger,
so it's may I think when we can start playing again and it's sept. when we finally record our
new stuff.( five new songs).
It's june 2001 when the single comes out (released on Filthy Ear Recs.) . In July we're touring Germany
with Visions Of War . (tourmanager is Laurel from Yellow dog Recs/Autoritar)
After that we start writing new songs + playing a few gigs in Belgium and Holland.
The rest you can find in the news section.
