1998 F1 Season The end of the road? Racing for Stewart It was Tyrrell's plan to keep Jos for 1997, but as the team was sold and under new management for 1998, Ken Tyrrell's plan was quashed. Although his team was sold, Tyrrell was to maintain a managerial role but would quit after his plan to keep Jos was over-thrown buy new owners - angered by the disrespect for his decision for Jos to stay. Jos was thus on the side-lines once again. After a short stint as test driver for Benetton again, Jos was the choice for the Stewart team who had recently fired Jan Magnussen for under-achieving. Partnering Rubens Barrichello for the remainder of the F1 season, Jos bettered Magnessen's qualifiying performances at the onset but didn't achieve any spectacular results in an unremarkable car. With a relatively annonymous performance, where would Jos end up for 1999? Best qualifying position: 12th Best race finish: 12th |
