…For Urban…

My life was graced through knowing you

A fiery yet gentle man with many facets

A fine and precious stone

With a sometimes scraggly exterior

You continued to polish with fervor on your journey here

Through the rough terrain of personal and collective torment,

What may have seemed to some

To be a hopeless mix of chemicals unbalanced and hardened

And {even to you} nothing more than a coal-like lump

Generating the heat of internal combust

But you began to shine brightly through the fog and haze

…Like a Beacon…

of Hope for others

Breaking new ground with your work

Leaving lasting footsteps in the sands for others to follow

And to build upon as you had built

Sometimes stumbling along the way

Not a one of us is perfect

That you knew.

You faced your challenges with self-honesty

I watched you grow with respect and admiration,

My own growth facilitated by your tenacity and daring

And my heart lightened witnessing the progress you had made.

Your heart was Huge, and as you began to let go of your rage

A certain softening of externals was taking place

As you became gentler with yourself,

You were gentler with others too

You had prepared for quite some time for that day

When you would be carried upward on Spirit Wings

You began turning to the Inward West

Then you left

A much more peaceful Soul than when we had first met.

That is what I would have wished for you most, dear friend

Southern Winds blowing Healing breezes over wounds of old

You have helped to heal mine too

Until we meet again…

Thank You

I Love You, Urban.

Sarah
