| I've always loved to paint, though have often been frustrated with what I considered a lack of technical skill...I've grown to realize that the process is just as important as the product, and do whatever I do now for the sheer joy of and need to express myself and whatever is flowing through me. Being self-taught, I figured that I could not possibly be or call myself an artist. I did what I did for myself not sharing much of it with others fearing condemnation and ridicule or just simply that i had nothing wothwhile to offer. I had not realized that my attitude was a self-imposed limitation. Once getting past worrying about the 'right' way of doing things, and about the reactions of others, I became happier with the result, but more importantly happier within myself. It wasn't as much about me anymore, and inadequacies and hypersensitivities, but what seemed in need of being expressed. Art has definitely been major part of my own healing process. Once letting go of the fear, others began responding differently to my work. I have enjoyed and learned from experimentation with media and ideas in my own time; in my own way. Hopefully others can enjoy as well. The collage above, "Healing Magick", done in December 2000, is an illustration of the magical process as it has been for me. The following is regarding the rune formula boxed at the bottom right hand corner, and is written on the back of this collage. "The count and total of this formula confirmed to me the magic inherent in this process, as the numeric values were not consciously realized when choosing the runes for the box, but rather 'fell into place'. The runes themselves were chosen to correspond to different levels of my own healing process. I was so excited to observe that the rune count and total actually defined the ways in which this process came to pass." Elhaz...Rune#15...Rune of the essential link with the patterns of Divine or Archetypal consciousness, and the dangers of realizing this link when unprepared. Dagaz...Rune#23...Rune of the final synthesis of consciousness, enlightning of the mind. There are 3 runes in the formula, so the count is 3; The Count indicates the realm of working...3 and its multiples express aspects of the magical will...powerful in operations dealing with magical forces working on many levels at once. The third Rune is Thurisaz; Rune of reactive and directed force-catalyst of change through resistance.
