What characteristics describe a good school leader? An Internet search would find one multiple lists to define one. The University of Georgia's WebCT Educational Leadership Program, which includes a practicum,  uses the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium ( ISLLC) Standards for School Leaders as a  framework to identify six practices judged to be necessary for effective leadership.

Included on this page are links to the standards and the sample activities I participated in as an "administrator- in-training" beginning May 2006 and concluding in April 2007. During that time, I clocked over 150 hours.

Our deepest fear is that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves:
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There's nothing enlightening about shrinking
So that other people won't feel insecure around you.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we all let our light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.
