SERVICE PROJECTS

CELL PHONE FOR SOLDIERS (INFORMATION UPDATED ON 6/23/08)  This project collects old cell phones and recycles them in order to purchase phone cards for our troops.  Click on the link to learn more about the project.  We have set up a collection box at the Post Home for you to donate your old phones and we will ship them for you.  For more information on this project contact Gabriele Hammon at ghammn756@comcast.net or (253)517-7678.  To date we have donated 100 phones to this project.
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION: (INFORMATION UPDATED ON 6/23/08)This project is to benefit McKinley Elementary School.  Please start collecting the box tops on specially marked products and put them in the collection box at the Post.  Each box top is worth .10 for the school.  Go to the Box Tops for Education web site to get the list of the many products that have Box Tops for Education.  For more information you can contact Gabriele Hammon at ghammon756@comcast.net or (253)517-7678.  To date we have donated $56.00 in box tops to McKinley.  Keep the box tops for education coming.  There is a collection box for them at the Post home on the display case.
LANDSTUHL HOSPITAL CARE PROJECT (INFORMATION UPDATED ON 6/23/08) This is the Ladies Auxiliary President Special Project for this year.  We have donated $362.00 to the project and 7 pair of sweatpants.  We will be making medicine bags for the project in the next couple of months.
THE WOUNDED SOLDIER PROJECT: (INFORMATION UPDATED ON 11/7/07) This is a project set up by Auxiliary Member Monika Hammon.  It was originally started as a Girl Scout Gold Award project but due to the need of these backpacks at Madigan she has decided to continue working on this project.  There were 10 more backpacks delivered to the Air Evac Unit at Madigan Army Medical Center in October. To date a total of 158 backpacks have been delivered to Madigan Army Medical Center and the VA Hospital.

This project has earned Monika not only her Girl Scout Gold Award but also the following awards: (1) Prudential Spirit of Community Award-Bronze Medal.  This project was one of the six top community service projects in the state of Washington.  (2)  The Congressional Award-Gold Medal.  Monika received this award in Washington, DC on June 19, 2007
