Step No. 2 The Exchange of Weapons 1 Samuel 18:1-14
After exchanging coats or robes, the two men would then exchange weapons. In doing this each man was offering the other his ability to defend himself. Now if either man was ever in a battle with an enemy he not only had the use of his partners weapons but his partner would come to his defense to help fight the battle. The strength of each man to defend himself was always available to the other.
IN THE NEW COVENANT: Man has nothing to offer God in this exchange. This is all one-sided in that God offers man His protection and deliverance and all man can do is accept or reject it.
