THE BIOGRAPHICAL BIT
I lived in Wales (which isn't the same as Scotland, or even a part of England) for a couple of years while at university. Before that I travelled around Europe for a while, teaching English - no less a person than James Joyce did the same thing.
I finished my degree in summer 2005 and am back in London. I'm now doing an MA in history - not the history we learn from the books!
VIX UNDER THE VEIL
Don't look for photos of me - since April 2007 I've worn a niqab. I'm not a Muslm, but I have a lot of Muslim friends and I wondered what it would feel like... It's fantastic, the best decision I've ever made, and I don't regret it for a minute. I no longer need to worry about what men think of me. I don't have bad hair days or skin problems, or spend a fortune trying to stay in fashion. I'm pretty much invisible so I can be myself.
