Though KeYun was behaving crazily, everything she said reminded ErHao of their happy past he shared with her. This memory caused him great pain and confusion. ZhenDe was very upset to see ErHao. But he did not blame YiPing for bringing ErHao to his place. He decided to take his family and moved away from Shanghai. ShuHuan and YiPing tried to persuade him to stay but failed. ErHao was still in shock when he ran out to the street and got hit by a car, hurting his forehead.
YiPing found ZhenHua and told him the entire story, he was also very angry with ErHao and went to ZhenDe's place immediately. After five years of separation, ZhenHua and ZhenDe met for the first time but their bond was still strong as before. Walking out of the house, YiPing felt guilty for taking ErHao to see KeYun. She admitted to ShuHuan that at times, she could not control her own emotions and often acted without thinking carefully. However, ShuHuan comforted her by telling how he thought of her. He said even sometimes, YiPing can be as aggressive as fire, she is also as delicate as a calm river. Add to this, she is like a river that can sing too. ZhenHua tried very hard to ask ZhenDe not to move away because he wanted to take care of his family and make up for what ErHao had done to KeYun. ZhenDe refused but promised to stay in Shanghai at least.
ErHao wanted to tell FangYu his fears but did not know where to start. He tried hard to make sense of what he had just been told about KeYun and her dead baby. But FangYu got even more confused because she did not understand what ErHao was trying to tell her. When WenPei heard about what happened during the day, she scolded YiPing for not being able to keep a secret. This was because telling everything would hurt a lot of people. ErHao went home and was blamed by ZhenHua for what had happened between him and KeYun six years ago. ErHao could not take the pressure any more and accused YiPing of making up such a lie. This made his father even angrier. Finally XueQin told her son the truth that KeYun indeed was pregnant with ErHao's baby. ErHao almost broke down.
Episode 17
XueQin tried to defend herself for hiding the truth from ErHao when she realised KeYun was pregnant with his baby. But ZhenHua was still mad at her excuse and at the same time disappointed by his son. He whipped them out of anger. ErHao was chased out of the house while XueQin was very humiliated and upset after being whipped. RuPing begged her father to forgive her brother and mother because she did not want to see their family falling apart. ZhenHua finally calmed down and told RuPing that she is a good daughter.
ErHao was very upset with ShuHuan and YiPing because he thought they made a trap to break up his relationship with FangYu. ShuHuan and DuFei pointed out that they had been trying to keep him away from seeing KeYun for a long time to avoid pain and heartbreaks. RuPing came to visit ErHao and they all agreed that ErHao should just be honest and tell FangYu the truth.
ErHao told FangYu that he had already forgotten about KeYun, who was only his childhood lover. Although he felt guilty and regretful for what KeYun had to go through, he no longer had any love feelings for her. FangYu was very sad and blamed ErHao of being cruel and thoughtless. ErHao told FangYu that he would wait for her to forgive him.
XueQin complained to her secret lover, WeiGuangXiong that she was beaten by ZhenHua. He suggested her to move out and promised to take revenge for her. He then sent his gangsters to beat up YiPing, who luckily was rescued by ShuHuan. But YiPing was already badly injured. QinWuYe, YiPing's boss was very upset and promised to find out who was behind this. YiPing told him she wanted to quit the job at the Grand Shanghai Nightclub. QinWuYe agreed and told YiPing that she would be welcome to sing in his nightclub again whenever she wanted.
Episode 18
ShuHuan suggested to take YiPing to NanJing, a city far from Shanghai to see his parents. YiPing was touched but since her mother was very worried about her injuries, YiPing decided to stay with her mother and go to NanJing later. Meanwhile, ZhenHua tried to tell ZhenDe to quit his job but ZhenDe refused. Then suddenly, KeYun knelt down in front of ZhenHua while holding a pillow, asking him to name it, which to her, was her baby. ZhenHua felt sad seeing her in such a poor mental condition. Nevertheless, he named the pillow and made KeYun very happy.
YiPing was surprised that she did not feel happy now that the "other side" was in a lot of trouble with arguments and sadness. FangYu asked YiPing to bring her to see KeYun but ShuHuan objected. FangYu then told them that she is very sad now because the happiness she had with ErHao had gone.
ErHao listened to ShuHuan and went home to apologise to ZhenHua. He told his father that he would do everything he could to cure KeYun's sickness. His father then told him to marry KeYun. But this was not acceptable to ErHao as he is in love only with FangYu. ErHao persuaded his father to delay this idea of wedding untill KeYun was cured. But ZhenHua insisted the wedding was to take place after two years whether KeYun was cured or not. ErHao went to ZhenDe's place to discuss how to cure KeYun's sickness but was chased. ErHao realised that KeYun did not recognize him at all and felt a sense of loss and sadness.
ErHao was also worried about the broken-hearted FangYu. DuFei suggested that they could try to help her regain happiness, and insisted that if YiPing could also help, then there would be a greater chance of success. ShuHuan asked YiPing to join but was refused because she believed FangYu would get hurt, like KeYun, if she were with ErHao again. But ShuHuan believed ErHao deserved a second chance because he had not meant to hurt both KeYun and FangYu. YiPing still declined to help and ShuHuan was upset that she did not try to think from his viewpoint. The two agrued again.
Episode 19
RuPing told FangYu about ErHao's suffering and asked her not to give up on him so soon. Besides, it was not worthwhile to sacrifice her happiness for something ErHao did unintentionally in the past. YiPing also changed her mind and told ShuHuan, for his sake, she decided to join them on their project of finding happiness for FangYu. ShuHuan was very touched because he knew making this choice was not easy for YiPing. Finally, FangYu got back with ErHao again. They all went to the nightclub to celebrate on stage with YiPing.
One day, YiPing saw XueQin and WeiGuangXiong outside the cinema. She rushed off to follow them, leaving ShuHuan behind without telling him where she was going. ShuHuan waited for a long time but YiPing still had not returned. He got very nervous and went around to look for her. YiPing went home to wait for ShuHuan, who was very glad to see her back safely. YiPing told him the reason and gave him the number plate of WeiGuangXiong's car, asking him to seek help from QinWuYe to find out whom that car belonged to.
Episode 20
QinWuYe told ShuHuan the result of the investigation and suggested that WeiGuangXiong might be involved in all these. He advised YiPing to stay away from WeiGuangXiong. YiPing then was almost sure that XueQin was the person who arranged the attack against her but ShuHuan asked her not to jump to conclusions.
YiPing felt that her father was actually quite lonely so she decided to go to the "other side" and pay him a visit. XueQin was unhappy when seeing YiPing and was nervous when she learnt that ZhenHua was thinking of buying a house for YiPing and her mother. When YiPing saw XueQin's reaction, she suggested to her father that he should be more careful of his own financial situation. ZhenHua then checked his savings book and realised a large part of it was missing. He was extremely upset with XueQin, who had been keeping those savings for him. She then made up excuses but ZhenHua was still angry. ZhenHua told YiPing that he would prepare a lot of gifts for her when she and ShuHuan married but YiPing refused. When YiPing was about to leave, XueQin insulted WenPei and MengPing also tripped YiPing over causing her to fall and hurt her head.
YiPing did not want to be a burden to her father who did not have too much savings now. So she told her mother that they should be able to make a living with her savings for a while. She would also get another job shortly. ShuHuan suggested that he would look after them and proposed to marry YiPing. Both the daughter and mother were very pleased but YiPing wanted to wait a bit first.
The group of young people decided to act out all the events that occured between ErHao and KeYun to help KeYun remember the past. ErHao also said all the things he used to say to KeYun in order to speed up the process. However, FangYu was feeling sad inside her heart when seeing ErHao and KeYun so close together.
