Everyone dressed up in traditional clothes and participated in a campfire gathering to help KeYun remember her first kiss with ErHao. They danced around the fire and had great fun. Toward the end, ErHao pulled KeYun away from the crowd and kissed her under the trees. The poor FangYu almost broke down seeing them kiss, although she knew that ErHao was only trying to help KeYun remember him.
At KeYun's house, ShuHuan and YiPing told ZhenDe that KeYun's condition is getting much better. They said that ErHao played the biggest part on KeYun's recovery and persuaded ZhenDe to forgive him. ErHao knew how much FangYu suffered seeing KeYun and him together. He urged her not to be a part in their plans to help KeYun but FangYu refused. She told him that when she saw him trying so hard to get KeYun to remember him, she loves him even more.
DuFei went to RuPing's school to give her another gift. RuPing feels that he has gotten in too deep. She refused to accept the gift and told him that her feelings about ShuHuan will never change. ShuHuan accidentally overheard RuPing and was very touched. DuFei hurt RuPing's fingers when trying to destroy the gift and ShuHuan rushed forward to see if RuPing was fine. DuFei was very angry with him and chased him away.
ShuHuan was confused about his feelings for RuPing but told himself that it was not impossible to be in love with two women at the same time. He was upset with himself for having these thoughts and tried to convince himself that he loves only YiPing.
KeYun finally remembers ErHao but is still confused about her own thoughts. But She seems to have forgotten that she had a baby and the last five years of her life. YiPing was worried that KeYun will fall in love with ErHao again. ZhenDe was happy that his daughter is finally back to normal. At the same time, FangYu told ErHao that they should break up. ErHao was shocked and told her that he could not be with KeYun because he does not love her anymore. Both did not know what to do about this situation. Meanwhile, ShuHuan was trying to figure out his feelings for YiPing and RuPing.
Episode 22
YiPing told ShuHuan that she thinks people can share anything except love. She did not understand how her father could marry nine women. She wondered if he loved them all or at least two at the same time. ShuHuan listened with guilty feelings and avoided her questions. He then suggests that to go to the Grand Shanghai Nightclub to have some fun, just the two of them.
While dancing there, they saw the drunken MengPing hanging out with her guy friends. ShuHuan went up and told her that she should not be there with those people. MegnPing did not listen and insulted YiPing in front of everyone. YiPing told ShuHuan to leave MengPing alone since she would not listen to them. Then MengPing's friends started a fight and ShuHuan was hurt. MengPing left with her friends after the fight. ShuHuan wanted to chase after them but YiPing was worried about his wound and stopped him. She assured him that nothing bad would happen. However, MengPing was raped that same night.
The next day, RuPing told ShuHuan what happened to her sister. She then asked him to pray with her and ShuHuan was touched by her sincere prayer.
ShuHuan told YiPing that they made a big mistake for letting MengPing left with her friends and told her what happened. ShuHuan was angry and said this would not have happened if YiPing had not stopped him last night He told YiPing that he had become a different person ever since he was with her. YiPing was heart broken with ShuHuan's words and suggested breaking up.
ShuHuan went back to work at the Press but could not concentrate. Then, he heard that the Chinese workers working for a Japanese owned factory just went on strike. He, DuFei and ErHao quickly went to cover the story but got into an argument with the Japanese soldiers, who started attacking them with weapons.
Episode 23
ShuHuan got hurt while fighting with the Japanese and together with DuFei and ErHao, they were thrown into prison. QinWuYe rescued them.
ShuHuan went home with injury on his head. But he was still angry about China's current situation and the way the Japanese treated the Chinese workers. He was also troubled about his relationship with YiPing. He started drinking, trying to make the pain, both on his body and in his heart, to go away. He decided he would no longer be held back by love and personal problems. But when it started to rain, he was reminded of the time he spent with YiPing. He ran out into the rain to look for YiPing and apologize to her. But he was too drunk to find his way to YiPing's house. DuFei chased after him and dragged him back. ShuHuan became very sick with a high fever and constantly calling out YiPing's name. Seeing that, DuFei decided to find YiPing.
DuFei rushed to YiPing's house to tell her ShuHuan was in a bad health condition. He asked her to go to see him. Meanwhile, RuPing went with ErHao to see ShuHuan. She then learned that ShuHuan and YiPing had broken up. Seeing the conditions he was in, RuPing asked ErHao to buy some food for ShuHuan while she took care of his wounds. She was heart-broken to see ShuHuan like that and asked him what she could do to ease his pain. ShuHuan woke up when she was about to leave and asked her to stay for a while. When YiPing returned with DuFei, she rushed into the room just to see RuPing beside ShuHuan's bed. She was shocked and said she should leave. RuPing stood up and said she should be the one to leave instead and explained the reason she was there. YiPing was still upset and turned around to leave. ShuHuan tried to get out of bed to pull her back but felt off the bed. YiPing turned around trying to catch him and they felt down together. ShuHuan told YiPing that he was trying to go to see her last night but could not find his way in the rain. YiPing was moved. Hugging each other on the floor, they made up again.
The six of them went out with KeYun to different places. ErHao tried to act the scenes that they had done together. Several times, YiPing caught ShuHuan and RuPing looking at each other, with a more than simple friendly look. YiPing knew that RuPing still loved ShuHuan and she felt her relationship with ShuHuan was in danger.
Chinese New Year came close but YiPing felt sad that ShuHuan did not mention about bringing her to Nanjing to meet his parents anymore.
Episode 24
At the train station, YiPing was seeing ShuHuan off to Nanjing by himself to spend Chinese New Year with his parents. YiPing knew the reason ShuHuan did not bring her along. She knew that he was not very confident with their relationship, their future together and especially with her. She told ShuHuan about her feelings and she also told him that she knew there was another person in his heart. ShuHuan was moved that she really understood him and could even read his mind. He regretted at not bringing her along and asked her to get on the train with him then. YiPing refused but reminded him to let her know the time he would be back. After ShuHuan left, YiPing kept on thinking of him and counting the days of his return. She wrote about how she missed ShuHuan in her diary that night.
ZhenDe invited WenPei and YiPing to his place to eat Chinese New Year Eve dinner with his family. While eating, ZhenHua came to join them. He was so happy that he drank with ZhenDe, just the way they used to do in the old days. Everyone had a great time.
DuFei waited for RuPing in front of the church. He got another crazy idea and gave RuPing a live duck. As usual, RuPing was not impressed.
KeYun was recovering well and could remember ErHao and her past. ErHao told FangYu that it was about time for him to withdraw from KeYun's recovery project and they should get on with their lives. FangYu told him that he could not quit now because KeYun is in love with him again. FangYu was afraid that KeYun would go crazy once more if ErHao left her. FangYu suggested that she and ErHao should just be good friends for the time being.
YiPing told FangYu her worry on her future with ShuHuan. FangYu reminded YiPing that she is not the only person who loves him. At this time, the postman delivered a letter for YiPing from ShuHuan. In the letter, ShuHuan told her that indeed he was unsure about their future, but now everything had been cleared up. He wrote that she is the only person who understands him and he is so sure that he loves her alone. He had only gone for a few days but already, he missed her very much. He regretted that he did not ask her to come with him. YiPing was very surprised and happy to read this letter.
ShuHuan was not yet back. YiPing had nothing to do and decided to go to the Grand Shanghai Nightclub to sing. FangYu brought ErHao, DuFei and RuPing there to support her. YiPing saw RuPing and FangYu receiving gifts from DuFei and ErHao respectively. Then, she could not help feeling lonely that ShuHuan was not there with her. At the back stage, DuFei told YiPing that ShuHuan could not be back on time but sent a gift for her. YiPing was upset to hear the news and was not eager to open his gift. When YiPing finally opened the big box, ShuHuan jumped out from inside. YiPing was too happy and surprised to say anything. They just stood there hugging each other tightly with happy tears falling down YiPing's cheeks.
MengPing thought she was pregnant and asked RuPing for help. They finally decided to tell their mother. XueQin was furious. ZhenHua overheard their conversation and knew what happened as well.
Episode 25
ShuHuan told YiPing how much he missed her. He had also told his parents about their relationship and showed them her picture. They were happy about it and said he is lucky. He then brought YiPing to see ZhenHua and asked his permission to marry his daughter.
ShuHuan and YiPing arrived just to find out ZhenHua was furious at MengPing getting pregnant. He did not believe that MengPing was raped. ShuHuan told everyone what he saw and was sorry that he could not stop MengPing's friends from taking her away. ErHao was furious that ShuHuan did not tried to stop that from happening. RuPing asked everyone to remain calm and try to come up with a solution. ZhenHua told MengPing to give him the names of those who raped her.
Coming out from the "other side" without saying anything about the wedding, ShuHuan felt guilty that he could not stop the rape from happening. YiPing asked him if he was still angry with her. She was worried that he would not love her anymore. But ShuHuan assured her that he would never leave her.
ShuHuan and ErHao came up with a plan to punish those people who raped MengPing. DuFei and ZhenHua joined them as well. They finally sent those people to the police.
KeYun had not seen ErHao for a long time and she acted abnormally again. ShuHuan finally had to get ErHao to clam her down. ErHao kissed her again at her house.
YiPing did not know whether she should support ErHao with FangYu or KeYun. She asked ShuHuan but he also could not come up with a solution that would not hurt both girls.
