How we Met

Our story...

We first met at the San Francisco Baha’i Center in the summer of 2002.  Our
paths crossed a number of times over the course of the next year and a half.
We always had nice conversations and enjoyed each other’s presence.  Then,
one Saturday last fall, we went out to lunch at a sidewalk cafe in San Francisco.
We had a wonderful time and discovered that we both had a great deal in
common—our interests, ideals, and sense of purpose.

This was the beginning of a special period of time getting to know each other,
our families and friends.  We were blessed to share a variety of experiences with
each other in this learning stage—saying prayers together on the phone each
morning and evening, studying the Baha’i writings, supporting each other and
our families through tests and difficulties, community service projects, even
playing soccer and basketball together!  Through this we learned that we both
value teamwork, consultation, partnership, service to humanity, and justice, to
name a few things.  And on top of it all, we also really liked each other!

One of the attractive qualities we found in each other was our willingness to be
open, and talk about where we saw our relationship going.  We both shared with
each other what we saw as the purpose of marriage and discussed the paths we
envisioned our lives taking over the coming years. While this was occurring, we
received much encouragement from our family and friends.  Finally we decided
we were ready to face life’s joy and challenges together as a team!

On January 13-14, we asked our parents for their consent to be married.  It
was a very joyful and confirming process, as our parents expressed their deep
support and blessing of our request.  Needless to say, these last few months
have been very exciting and full.  We look forward to sharing the commencement
of our marriage with you!
