Woodard-O'Brien, Mallory
I was born in Minot, North Dakota in the nippy dead of winter and if anyone among you has experienced a Dakota winter, may you live a long, prosperous life in an insulated house. Point being, it's cold. My father was an Anglo-Saxon (not British, mind you-- there's a difference) French mix and my mother was a fiery-haired white Irish--none of that Spaniard mix. When my parents left duty in the air force after Desert Storm, we moved to Georgia to be closer to my grandparents in the central town of Macon, about thirty miles from Dublin, Georgia, an old industrial town which over the years had collected a mighty pinch of rust. I was there from about four years old to somewhere around twelve or thirteen, where I was shipped upcountry into Northern Virginia because of a job opportunity on the part of my mother. It was here I began my writing, my first work being a writing class assignment on the Fantasy genre, based off something akin to "The Hobbit" by Tolkien. I did an insationable job for my age, I suppose, because thereafter I was getting money offers to write papers for classmates.

Now that I'm in college, I can get a lot more money for that.

After some reoccuring fist and claw fights with some troubled hispanic kid, I decided it'd be unwise to risk my record and go to my base school where he would be going. Thus, I began looking around and, lo' and behold, a creative writing subgenre program in a rising liberal arts program. I got in where I remained until graduation. I worked food service and retail in Manassas, Virginia. It's true what they say, retail sucks the blood from your veins. I am now attending West Virginia Wesleyan College and fit in quite nicely-- the awkwardness of a liberal arts college in a very tiny mountain town had a draw on me.
