'Writing' the Wrongs
and Educating the Throngs
Canadian Women Writers
"Anyone who has gumption knows what it is , and anyone who hasn’t can never know what it is, so there is no need of defining it." -  Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874-1942)

"
The Canadian people are more practical than imaginative. Romantic tales and poetry would meet with less favour in their eyes than a good political article from their newspapers."  -  Susana Moodie, (1803-1885)
This portion of the site is designed to introduce you to a few of the Canadian women writers who made an impact on the hearts and minds of our ancestors.   Many were not just writers but were also abolitionists, activists; teachers, healers and politicians.  They were poets and artists; sinners and saviours; mothers and grandmothers; and all had something to say.
