Hi there...Let me tell you a little bit about myself. When I'm not Robert I am Maccoman! My interests are many. I like to think of myself as a music enthusiast! I listen to music, I write music, and play several musical instruments! Music isn't just a hobby, it's a way of life! Listed below are some of my main interests
Like I mentioned earlier I am a music enthusiast. I like to compose music. When I was in college I wrote music all the time. Many of my newer compositions are incomplete at this time. The main reason for this has been a lack of time. Enter the world of computers and now I am working with sequencers and using them to write out music for me, only problem is that many times the computer misinterprets what I play, so I end up writing my music by hand like the old days. In spite of this major/minor complication it still has spead up the proccess, at least a little.
I like to perform in the local restaurants and night clubs(see Mr. Macco's Schedule page for listings). I play lots of jazz(compositions by Miles Davis, George Gershwinn, Herbie Hancock and others) and new age and sometimes classical(Chopin and Lizt). I also play alot of my compositions, most of which fall into the new age catagory. Maybe someday Real Music or Narada will give me a contract. So until then...As a musician I have not gotten rich, but I have never starved. Musicians never starve, only artists do! Most restaurants I've played at offer food, even if they don't offer much money.
Top of this Page!I'm also a short wave enthusiast. I currently tune in to world band radio with my Grundig Yachtboy 305. I have it hooked up to one of those 23ft reel antennas from Radio Shack. It really improved the reception quite a lot! With it I listen to music from all over the world. The music I've heard over the short wave has given me inspiration for many of my music compositions. I also listen to the news presentations and the cultural features from these stations. I think among my favorites are the BBC, Radio Canada International (especially The Royal Canadian Air Farce),Radio Nederland, and Radio Japan. I used to like listening to the Voice of Free China(V.O.C.) when Jeannie was part of the English broadcast, but since she left I have found the shows less entertaining. I especially miss the show The Adventures of Jeannie and Mahlon. Now the only thing I listen to the V.O.C. for these days is the music. One thing I really want to commend Radio Canada International for is for having comedy shows. To the best of my knowledge they are the only world band station to have comedy shows in English. I'm not aware of BBC, Radio Australia, Radio New Zealandor any other English speaking countries' short wave stations providing comedy in their world band broadcasts, at least not to North America anyways. I wish more short wave stations had comedy. The BBC could do this easily, but they haven't! At least not that I'm aware of anyways! I am planning to buy a Sony ICf-2010 before they stop making them. I hear it is the mother of all portables. I intend to find out!
Visit my new shortwave page! | Top of this Page!As you probably guessed, I do have an interest in computers like most of my Geocities(or should I say Geocity) neighbors! In any case the point is I find computers absolutely fascinating. I am particularly interested in the languages of the Web such as HTML, Java, and CGI. Not that I'm profficient in any of these languages or spelling for that matter!I am also just as fascinated by some of the computer games that are out there, and I am embarrased to say that in spite of all the computer games that are out there my favorite is still Blake Stone Aliens of Gold. I'm still waiting for the computer stores here in Knoxville to carry the sequel! Until then...When I'm not playing the action games I find myself playing Riverboat Poker with Abe Lincoln, Henry Clay, Annie Oakley, and Mark Twain! More about me in my June revision of this page.
