This last month, I had the privilege of attending the Arissa conference on the struggle against the rising tide of fascism, which was part of the “Liberation Weekend” that also included a Southern California Anarchist Federation conference. Because I was hoping to meet with Villistas I had not met personally, I wore my CCDN uniform: if there were other Villistas in attendance, they chose not to reveal themselves, but I learned much from Arissa, and gave them some of our information as well.
I didn’t attend the Anarchist conference because we Villistas aren’t Anarchists; neither are we animal-rights activists. Our political project, ambitious as it is, isn’t that ambitious, but we feel that the activists of Arissa are vital to our common struggle against the power of money, force, war and death now rising throughout the world. Villistas, Anarchists, and animal rights activists can indeed fit into the same world: those we oppose have no room for anyone but themselves.
This last point was proven by the immediate persecution of others who attended Liberation Weekend, and those who sought to contribute to it …including other Villistas. I have been able to escape this persecution because of my security precautions: I was impressed by how rapidly the participants of Liberation Weekend are learning about security, yet their growing expertise didn’t shield them from persecution. The Anarchists and animal rights activists have taken more risks than the CCDN has, and, unfortunately, US Homeland Security has been able to exploit this. Therefore, it’s imperative that Villistas, Anarchists, animal rights activists, and others who combat the rise of terrorist fascism learn from one-another and combine our efforts to resist this bloody tide, lest it wash us all away.
