Message to the Survivors of Tyisha Miller,Español

from Insurgent Subcommandante Angeles, Branch of Liaison, Communications, and Investigations, Clandestine Command "Division of the North" (Villista National Liberation Front).

To the family and friends surviving Tyisha Miller:

Greetings from the Clandestine Command "Division of the North" (Villista National Liberation Front).

You may not have heard of us: we struggle for liberty, justice, and democracy in the Mexican North, including Aztlan, much as the Zapatistas fight in the Mexican Southeast, and the EPR struggles in the South-Central of the country...but we haven't forwarded this message to remind you of that! We've chosen this moment to ask the person before you to communicate this to you in order to share the light of the holiday season, and to reflect on how the dead can shed light on the living:

Today is one of the days of Kwanza'a: a festival created by a professor at Cal State, Long Beach to shed an African light on American holidays, such as Christmas, New Year's, Channukah, and Ramadan, so that the African contribution to American might not be merely the struggle against servitude, but for positive African values.

Now, the values chosen for Kwanza'a were in part borrowed from Dr. Julius Nyerere's African Socialism- values, enumerated in KiSwahili, with which Dr. Nyerere hoped Tanzananian development would illuminate Africa.

These are precisely the same values which illuminate the struggle of the Mexican people, especially the indigenous, to liberate Mexico from the neoliberal negation of these values: as such, we celebrate Kwanza'a with you!

We recently observed a commemoration of the massacre at Acteal, Chenhlo municipality, Chiapas, Mexico, in which over 40 men, women, and children were gunned down in cold blood during a church service by pro-government paramilitaries disguised (unconvincingly!) as Zapatistas. Today we remember that Tyesha Miller was gunned down here. And, on New Year's Eve, we will commemorate the 6th anniversary of the Zapatista Uprising. What do these anniversaries have in common? We endure, but so do the forces arrayed against us. In 1994, the Zapatistas managed to avoid annihilation, but the massacres began with the Aguas Blancas massacre in 1995, which precipitated the appearance of the EPR. Since Acteal, there haven't been large-scale massacres...but a slow tricle of torture, disappearance, disease, hunger, and death remains.

A year ago, 4 Riverside Policemen slew Tyisha Miller. They were dismissed, but 1 has already been rehired as a San Bernardino County Sherriff's dispatcher. Has the tide of death stopped? In Los Angeles, an elderly homeless woman is gunned down for brandishing...a screwdriver; and in Claremont, Irving Landrum, Jr. is shot dead for supposedly shooting a gun, which was never fired, and which belonged to a former Chief of Police of Ontario! These two cops are now nominated as "Employees of the Year": this includes a $1000 bounty, per cop, on Landrum!

Tyesha Miller's death seems to have signaled that the hunt is up on African-Americans by police, especially in Los Angeles County. and this hunt may easily extend to all those who stand against valueless neoliberalism, as evinced recently in Seattle.

Tyisha Miller's death illuminated this abyss as it exists in Riverside. We also have information passed to us, as yet unconfirmed, concerning two children who were victimised by a Satanic cult within the RPD, one of whom became catatonic, and that the police report was falsified by a detective who was a member of that cult. The person giving this information to us cannot come forward, under threat of death. From whom, we wonder? Do cult members shave their heads? Do decent, honest Riverside Police Officers live in fear, too? Well, the Satanic cult merely expresses the values of neoliberalism, and the CCDN (FVLN), along with all of those struggling for the liberation of Mexico, including Aztlan, express the values of Kwanza'a. Like the cult, we must remain, for now, clandestine- but we pass this message to you to bring forth life from death, light from the abyss, hope from dispair.

Death to Satanic Neoliberalism!

Down with Satanic Cops and Neoliberal Governments!

Long live the forces struggling for liberty, justice, democracy, and human rights!

Amandla Ngawethu- Power to the People!

The people, united, will never be defeated!

From the Mexican Northwest, Insurgent Subcommander Angeles, Branch of Liaison, Communications, and Investigations, Clandestine Commando "Division of the North" (Villista National Liberation Front).

Organisational P.S.: We in the Mexican National Liberation Movement have the differences normal to a broad, democratic movemenmt, yet we manage to fight together for our common purposes: we would like to see more commonality of action in Aztlan, as well.
