| *The Mystery of Vincent's Age* I've heard lots of arguements over the web about what the *REAL* age of Vincent really is. Recently I've heard one stating that during Vincent's flashback at Lucrecia's Falls, he was actually around 40 at that time....and quite frankly, that is complete, absolute nonsense. (sorry, but in my opinion, it is.) I suppose this is to to the fact that I am one of those more conservative FF7 fans. I enjoy reading FF7 fanfics that stick as close to the original storyline as possible. So when Square clearly stated in the ***user's manual*** that Vincent is 27, then Vincent's 27! I don't understand why people always want him to be much more older than he actually is. (Maybe because they always keep on insisting that he's a vampire, which I also do not believe in. If you want to obsess over vampires, there are plenty of vampire games out there already. I do, however, accept fanart of Vincent as a vampire...) Here are a couple of reasons that support my theory that Vincent is indeed 27, like Square says. It also explains how Vincent managed to stay 27 years old even though he slept in that coffin for god knows how long. Hopefully, by the time I'm done the elusive mystery of Vincent's age won't be so elusive anymore. First of all, Vincent used to be a Turk. I assume that to be a Turk, you must also be fit and healthy, a good fighter, agile, nimble and dexterous. In other words, you have to be young. Second, all the other Turks (Reno, Tseng, Rude, Elena) were also around 20~30 somthing years old. It'd be more possible that Vincent was also around 20 when he was a Turk, rather than around 40. Also...in Vincent's flashback in Nebelhiem, Professer Gast had just begun his experiment of trying to produce people with the ability of the Ancients. They plausibly believed that Jenova was a Cetra...and Jenova had let them think so. At that time, Vincent was a Turk sent to oversee the experiment, and to protect the scientists working on it. He was in love with Lucrecia, a red haired woman who was Professer Gast's assistant scientist. (Hojo was Gast's other assitant.) Lucrecia seemed to like him well enough, and yet when Vincent proposed to Lucrecia, she refused...and later, he saw Lucrecia and Hojo embracing in front of the Nibelhiem well. Then, the famous quote: "If she's happy then...I don't mind." ^-^ Gast needed a pregnant woman in order to perform his experiment...and Hojo talked Lucrecia into voluntering herself... Vincent found out about this, and since he was against experimenting on humans he got into an arguement with Hojo...who took out a gun and killed him. (AARRGGHH!!! AAAAAHHHHHHH! AAIIIIEEEEE!!! *makes several incoherent noises before managing to return to normal.*) Then, being the creep that he is, (sorry, I just can't help myself...hey, why am I apologizing anyway??! It's not like anyone out there actually LIKES him...right? Right...?) Hojo scientifically altered Vincent and then put him to sleep in the basement of the Shinra Mansion...... So, (presuming that Vincent is 27 as Square says,) at age 27, Vincent had died that day when Hojo shot him, so he is unable to age anymore (because you can't get any older if you're dead, silly. You're body doesn't continue growing when you're dead.) and was revived/altered by Hojo to exsist as part human and part of the other monsters that his limit breaks transforms him into. My guess is that unlike the others, he continues to age depending on how the Chaos beast ages...which undoubtly has a more longer life span than a human. So, Gast implanted Jenova cells into Lucrecia, and Hojo impregnanted Lucrecia.....Sephiroth was born to Lucrecia and Hojo......the planet became destinied to be infested by the evil maniac.......and thus...the story begins. Delilah: "Okie! That's it! any questions?" Vincent: "Hmm...Just one." Delilah: "Yes, what is it?" Vincent: "Why do these people all have a strange inexplicable interest in pursuing the certainity my age? It's not an important issue. Does it really matter tha much to them?" Delilah: "That's easy! It's because....um.....because....uh....." Vincent: *wryly* "Because...?" Delilah: "Come to think of it.................................I don't know." Vincent: "..." |
