You have been watching: Tom "Streetwise" Melia Guitar/Vocals Tom is largely influenced by the works of The Beatles & The White Stripes. Interestingly, Tom once boarded a bus and instructed the driver he wanted half fare to "my house". Tom was born on the 12th of June 1986, in the ghetto. Tom "Gant" Gant Guitar/Backing Vocals Tom's musical roots lie in Less Than Jake, Led Zeppelin and No Doubt. An interesting fact about Tom is that he lives opposite the drummer from Beautiful South (Watch for news of them supporting us later this year).
Tom "Tucker" Stansfield Drums In his spare time, you may catch Tuck listening to The Chillis & The Strokes. Out of interest, Stanny is the member of the band of who gets naked in public the most. If you email us, we'll gladly send photos of the drunk and pantless Thomas
Peter "Pete" Scott Bass/Backing Vocals Petes musical inspiration comes from the works of Bob Dylan, The Music and The Smiths. In his spare time Peter has been found to dress up in womans clothing, lingerie as well folks! |

The history
So we rang Pete up, "How would you like to be in a band?" "Sure" "We need Bass and Drums" "I'll take the Bass" The very same day we trekked to Rockshack, and Pete shelled out for his trust Bass, and the band was born, but not the band you know and despise today. A drummer was still to materialise, and after several phone calls, all to 192, we finally located Mr Tucker Stansfield. Vinyl Beat was complete. This all took place in early June 2002, in which after a few months of practice around 10 songs had been finished to perfection. Ahem. Due to lazyness, and lack of free time, but mostly lazyness, the band had to take an 8 month break, these have been later described as the dark days. Now however, in June 2003, a year later, we have taken a different approach to music, and become a Rock/Ska/Funk band. A lot of our old songs will never be played live, and will only exist on a beat up little tape deck in my garage. Hopefully a few gigs will present themselves, we can get a CD recorded, and take you guys by storm. I say storm...
Updated history Well that was pretty boring. Anyways, Vinyl Beat was confirmed as a name (iliya-faril?) and I set about making this wretched website and hastling anyone who has anything to do with music in the whole of Leeds. We then got a confirmed gig at The Vine, on October 10th I believe, no wait, 22nd. In a style which we have adopted quite well since, we were extremely unprepared, but pulled it off and managed to hammer out our 9 track set list without any major fuck-ups! Since then we have being taking all the opportunities we get to play live, our best gig being the New Roscoe Springboard Xmas Special, in which for some strange reason we were headlining. Anyways, we have become moulded into a unprofessional, unprepared drunk on stage rock band, which I have to say, is something to be proud of... right? guys? Anyways, you read it first here folks, in the words of Bill and Ted " Be Excellent to each other, and party on!!!! " Gant |
