Wario Land (Nintendo 1995): A+ Wario Land could possibly be the best Virtual Boy game ever released. The game has the gameplay of a classic Mario game and combines it with great 3-D effects and a great storyline. Click here to view a screenshot. Jack Bros (Atlus 1995): A+ This is my personal favorite VB game. Jack Bros. has a great storyline, cool characters, great levels, and cool 3-D effects. The enemies are interesting and the bosses increase in difficulty the furthur you get into the game. You can choose to play one of the three main characters (Jack Frost, Jack Lantern, and Jack Skeleton). You can unlock the Fourth Character (Pixie) after you beat the game. Unfortunetly, this game is missing a save feature. Click here to view a screenshot. Galactic Pinball (Nintendo 1995): A Not only is Galactic Pinball one of the best Virtual Boy titles, it is one of the best Pinball titles ever released on any system. It's originality, beautiful 3-D effects and tables, and mini games make it one great title. There's a total of four pinball tables and all of them are unique in their own way. This game includes the save function so you can save all of your high schores on all the tables. Click here to view a screenshot. Nester's Funky Bowling (Nintendo 1996): A Nester's Funky Bowling is a fun VB game that uses great 3-D effects. It's just a fun bowling game. The graphics are nice, the characters are goofy, the lanes have depth, and you can verse a friend. Too bad it didn't support the link cable though. The game is quite easy so anybody young or old can pick it up and play. Click here to view a screenshot. Space Squash (Coconuts Japan Entertainment 1996): A Space Squash is a unique, fast-paced, 3-D game of Pong. The enemies are cool, the graphics are good, and the depth of the levels are great. Click here to view a screenshot. Mario Tennis (Nintendo 1995): A- This game comes bundled with every VB and it's a fun game. The courts are beautiful and have great depth. This is the one tennis game I actually like playing. While playing it, you feel as if you're actually on the court right next to one of your favorite Nintendo characters. The music's great, and the sound effects are pretty good. Click here to view a screenshot. Panic Bomber (Hudon Soft 1995): B+ Panic Bomber is an addictive, fun, fast-paced puzzle game. The enemies are challenging and funny at the same time. The blasts and explosions really add to the gameplay. Click here to view a screenshot. Teleroboxer (T&E Soft 1995): B+ Teleroboxer is quite an intense title. The game features seven characters you have to fight through and it's quite a challenge to get through all of them. The graphics and effects are nice but the enemies are just too hard. It would have been a nice title to support the link cable. Click here to view a screenshot. 3-D Tetris (T&e Soft 1995): B 3-D Tetris is a fun addictive tetris game that can get intense sometimes. You'll always find yourself going back to this game trying to beat your old scores. Click here to view a screenshot. Space Invaders: Virtual Collection (Taito 1995): B Space Invaders: Virtual Collection is a fun game almost exactly like the original Space Invaders. The game combines the original game with cool 3-D effects and layers. Click here to view a screenshot. Virtual Bowling (Athena 1995): B Virtual Bowling is a fun, ordinary, average bowling game. The graphics are nice and it has great 3-D effects. Unfortunetly, this game is one of the rarest Virtaul Boy games. Virtual Bowling definetly isn't worth paying thousands for. Click here to view a screenshot. Mario Clash (Nintendo 1995): B- This is a fun game that features yours truly, Mario. It's set up like an old Mario Bros. game with the tubes but includes really cool 3-D effects. Shells fly all over the place and sometimes they fly right towards your face! It's fun and easy and just about anybody can pick it up and play it. Unfortunately though, it has no re-play value. Click here to view a screenshot. Insmouse No Yakata (IMAX 1995): C Insmouse is the only FPS (First-person shooter) game on the Virtual Boy. The graphics are pretty good and the depth of the levels are pretty good. The controls are a little bit clunky and the game is pretty difficult. Click here to view a screenshot. Virtual Fishing (Pack In Video 1995): C Virtual Fishing is a calm, relaxing, and fun game. The game features great graphics and a variety of fish. This game is pretty slow though, and eventually you'll find yourself taking it out of your virtaul boy and putting in Wario Land instead. Click here to view a screenshot. V-Tetris (Bulletproof SW 1995): C V-Tetris is just a plain remake of Tetris. The game has no originality, or any cool 3-D effects. The background of the boards are pretty cool though. Click here to view a screenshot. Golf (T&E Soft 1995): C Golf is a fun, relaxing game of 18 holes of golf. It's simples and it has great 3-D effects. Thing is it can get boring and it isn't exactly a must have title for the VB. Click here to view a screenshot. Red Alarm (T&E Soft 1995): C+ Red Alarm is a great game and it reminds me of the Starfox game for the Super Nintendo but with wire-frame graphics. The soundtrack is great and the sound effects such as the blasts are really good. The game is fairly long and it's intense. Unfortunetly though, the game doesn't have a save feature and sometimes the path way isn't so visible so you end up trying to go through a wall or something. Causing your ship to eventually blow up. Click here to view a screenshot. Waterworld (Ocean 1995): C- Waterworld is an interesting title. The graphics are really, really, really good. The music is pretty good, and the gameplay is fun for awhile. But, later in the game, after doing the same thing over and over again, it becomes really repetitive. The lack of storyline also sucks. Click here to view a screenshot. SD Gundam: Dimension War (BanDai 1995): D+ Gundam is definetly not worth it for how much it goes for now on eBay or any other sites. It's a RTS (Real-time strategy game) and the gameplay is really slow. The game is almost too easy. Click here to view a screenshot. Virtual Lab (J-Wing 1995): D Virtual Lab is your standard puzzle game. The game has many problems, including no ending. Click here to view a screenshot. Vertical Force (Nintendo 1995): D Vertical Force is one of my least favorite Virtual Boy titles. It's fun for awhile but then it just gets boring. The levels increase in difficulty and eventually it becomes almost impossible to play. The 3-D effects are ok but they're nothing special. Click here to view a screenshot. Virtual League Baseball (Kemco 1995): D Virtual League Baseball is an OK game. The gameplay is fun and plays just like real baseball. However, the outfielders look like little blobs and seeing the same animations and cut scenes over and over gets really boring...and annoying. Click here to view a screenshot. >>Home |
