Regeneration and Conversion
in the Christian Life
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except
ye be converted, and become as
little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:3
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and
renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted
unto
thee. Psalms 51:10 -13
Casting down imaginations, and every
high thing that exalteth itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience
of Christ... 2 Corinthians 10:5
Wash me throughly from mine iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin.
Psalms 51:2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by
the mercies of God, that ye present
your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing
of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and
perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1, 2
But we all, with open face beholding
as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are
changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit
of
the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18
How the Sanctification
Process Develops
... strong meat belongeth to them that
are of full age, [even] those who by
reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Hebrews 5:14
Woe unto them that call evil good, and
good evil; that put darkness for light,
and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Isaiah 5:20
What shall we say then? Shall we continue
in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were
baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ
was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also
should
walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall
be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin
might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Romans 6:1-6
Let not sin therefore reign in your
mortal body, that ye should obey it in the
lusts thereof.
Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin:
but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and
your
members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law,
but
under grace.
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace?
God forbid.
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants
ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto
righteousness?
But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed
from
the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh:
for as
ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto
iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto
holiness.
For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed?
for the end of those things is death.
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have
your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. Romans
6:12-22
Repent ye therefore, and be converted,
that your sins may be blotted out,
when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord...
Acts 3:19
... cleanse thou me from secret faults. Psalms 19:12
And lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil: For thine is the
kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Matthew
6:13
Submit yourselves therefore to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands,
ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning,
and your joy to heaviness.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
James 4: 7-10
And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier
of silver: and he shall purify the sons
of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the
LORD
an offering in righteousness. Malachi 3: 3
And such were some of you: but ye are
washed, but ye are sanctified,
but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of
our God. 1 Corinthians 6:11
But continue thou in the things which
thou hast learned and hast been
assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able
to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all
good works. 2 Timothy 3:14-17
Brethren, I count not myself to have
apprehended: but [this] one thing I do,
forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those
things
which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ
Jesus.
Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing
ye
be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Philippians
3:13-15
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge
of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. 2
Peter 3:18
